Jonathan Owens, as the world already knows, is the football safety for the Chicago Bears. And Simone Biles has been often spotted at Owens’ games cheering him on. So, quite naturally, one would expect that Biles is following the game. But it turns out she might not be! And that is from the queen of gymnastics herself! In a recent interview clip with Sports Illustrated, the Owens-Biles duo was questioned about who the better cheerleader was. And the answer?

Considering the fact that Biles has even donned the cheerleading outfit for the Houston Texans, the answer would be quite naturally her. But in the interview, Biles gets honest and says, “Jonathan, he knows more and really pays attention.” Oops! Owens, being the supportive partner he is, went on to add, “I’ll be locked in.” The two were all playful banter. But that’s not all!

What’s your perspective on:

Is Jonathan Owens the real MVP of cheerleading, or does Simone Biles have bigger causes to cheer for?

Have an interesting take?

Owens cheekily went on to expose Biles! “She’ll hear everybody else yelling and be like, ‘What happened?’ But it’s the thought that counts, and I love it,” added Owens. Simone Biles might love cheerleading and the outfit, but Jonathan Owens might just hold the cheerleading title at home. Or maybe Biles just has bigger causes to cheer for?

Biles, however, is the best cheerleader for a bigger cause

The interview that exposes Simone Biles behind her iconic goggles might not have been following what happened at the Sports Illustrated event. Any guesses on why she was there? Well, two reasons. One, Biles was awarded the 2024 Sportsperson of the Year Award. After the three Gold medals in Paris, this comes as no surprise. However, towards the end of her acceptance speech, she gave a shout-out to someone special!

At the end of her speech, Biles went on to say, “I’d also like to give a shout-out to my ‘friends’ at Friends of the Children who continue to be a source of inspiration for each and every day.” So what exactly is Friends of the Children? Well, Friends of the Children is an organization that is quite close to Biles’ heart. Why is that? Well, Simone Biles was a part of the foster care system for a part of her life.

And she knows that the places that children are often placed in are not the best. Friends of the Children is an organization that has partnered with Biles to improve this situation that children face. Whether hosting online sessions or meeting kids at her Houston gym, Biles shows up with enthusiasm and love. And of course, that is with her infectious energy. So who’s the best cheerleader again?

While she might not be the best cheerleader at the NFL and NBA games, she is the greatest one where it matters. So, no wonder Jonathan Owens went on to say, “It’s the thought that counts.”
