Trinity Thomas announced her retirement from gymnastics in 2021 after competing for the National Team four times (2016-20) due to an ankle injury. Making her big comeback, the 22-year-old with 34-time NCAA All-American and the University of Florida’s co-leader declared her elite return last year.
This year, Thomas finished fourth in the 2024 Winter Cup, the first national team qualifier, almost missing the podium. But when a young supporter supported her during the most recent Gators match, she graciously obliged.

Competing at the senior level for the first time since 2019, Thomas scored 53.250 all-around in the Winter Cup. A story posted by junior gymnast Kai Wiggin on the Instagram story featured among the several updates from the Gators senior meet day that the Florida standout recently shared. Wiggin won the Level 4 State bars title in 2023 and wore a customized Gators “Dynamic Duo” t-shirt with her and Trinity Thomas, along with the words, “You know the vibe, it’s your favorite duo.”
For the past five years, Thomas hasn’t exactly been sitting off mats. The Florida standout took home the 2022 and 2023 Honda Awards for best collegiate gymnast in the United States. Along with the 28th perfect 10 on vault at the 2023 NCAA Gymnastics Finals, tying the record for the most perfect 10 points in NCAA history. 22-year-old Thomas joined the Gators as a student coach for the 2024 season and is currently pursuing a second degree at the University of Florida. All the while keeping her hopes for Paris high.
New year, new Trinity Thomas
For Thomas, it has taken a while to pursue her Olympic dreams and return to the elite stage. Throughout her career, she has repeatedly shown how to ascend to record-breaking accomplishments in the sport and transform difficult circumstances into amazing triumphs. At the 2024 Winter Cup, Trinity Thomas started with a 14.050 for a stunning uneven bars routine. That was the same as Kayla DiCello’s highest score from the first rotation in the same event.
Thomas appeared strong on the ground; she was only overcome by landings. 12.800, thus, less 0.3 for neutral deductions. Thomas earned a spot in the 2024 U.S. Championships courtesy of her all-around score of 53.25. In the end, her fortitude, mental toughness, and passion for gymnastics come through while the major step toward the Mega Games remains tied to June’s US Olympic trial results. Will she be able to qualify for the Olympics and wow the audience and judges of Paris?
