On August 29, 2023, “Inside Gymnastics,” a Twitter page known for sharing the insider news of the gymnastics world, shared a post that caught the attention of enthusiasts & athletes alike. The tweet showcased a repost from the NBC Olympics, where Jordan Chiles was called as the “Ultimate Hype Woman,” after she encouraged the spectators in the SAP arena to stand up to praise Biles. The post carried a resonance beyond its apparent praise, for it was Chiles’ own words that provided a glimpse into her mindset.

Following her generous act, Chiles stated, “This is a hard sport. She’s 26 years old & she’s doing big gymnastics. So when you can succeed and do everything that [she’s] doing, you should give people their flowers!”

It clearly was a staunch acknowledgement from one gymnast to the other. As Biles soared high and demonstrated her dominance in the arena, her compatriots faced their own set of hardships.

While Jade Carey faced her own hurdles with balance beam and floor exercise, Jordan Chiles fell from the uneven bars and lost some points along the way. However, Chiles still continued her routine with unwavering dedication.
