Simone Biles didn't have a baby—why can't people just focus on her incredible gymnastics skills?

Simone Biles left the gymnastics community awry at the Summer Games back in 2020. Suffering from a severe case of “twisties,”  the most decorated female gymnast pulled back from the finals. While many were left wondering when they would see her next, Biles confirmed she was going to focus on herself at the moment. After a two-year-long hiatus, she made an incredible comeback at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium.

Last week, she stepped onto the floor at the Target Center, vying for a spot headed to the French capital. With an overall score of 117.225 on day 4, Biles had effortlessly punched her ticket to Paris. The seven-time Olympic medalist is the first American woman to make the team in three consecutive summer games since Dominique Dawes. The thunderous roars as Biles made it to the stage were unmatched. But as fans both in the stadium and online celebrated her historic win, one fan’s congratulatory message has left the gymnastics community puzzled.

Simone Biles may have stepped down momentarily. But she has been dominating the floor since her return in 2023. As she effortlessly held on to the top spot throughout the trials, one fan was particularly touched. They were over the moon for the four-time Olympic gold medalist. Another fan tweeted the image of the misinformed fan’s wishes, captioned “Oh boy.” They elaborated on how watching her journey from 2020 to now warms their hearts.

The message is a rollercoaster of emotions focusing on how Biles went through so much, took a break, had a baby, and is now an Olympic gymnast yet again at 28. As wild as this sounds, what many couldn’t move past was the announcement of Baby Biles! The fan then mentioned how Biles did this with no coach and will be flying to the gold in the French capital.

The 27-year-old has been very open about her journey after her Tokyo heartbreak. Her brave decision to step down became a catalyst for many other athletes suffering from the same pressure and challenges. Biles became an advocate for mental health, sparking several conversations surrounding the situation. While she did tie the knot with Chicago Bears’s safety, Jonathan Owens, during this period, the baby in question is her adorable niece, Ronnie Biles.

Biles will be looking forward to adding a few more golds to her ever-growing collection at the French Capital. But it is this misguided message that has grabbed several fans’ attention.

The gymnastics community was left scratching their heads

Simone Biles will be leading a team of fellow veterans to the French capital. Upon witnessing her enthralling performances over two days at the Target Center, many were elated for the elite gymnast. But one particular comment left fans in stitches, and they headed over to X to help right several wrongs. One fan simply feigned a mock surprise: “Having a baby?!?!?!??!?!?!” Their hilarious reaction to the misinformation had several others join in too.

Another fan cheekily responded, “What a way for Simone to find out she has a baby and is actually a year older than she thought.” Someone better check in on the gymnast; she might be surprised by this news herself! Agreeing, one fan simply stated, “Congrats to Simone Biles on apparently having a baby and aging faster than the average human. 🤣🤣🤣🤣” We knew Biles had superhuman capabilities, but this truly takes the cake!

A fan cleared the air, explaining, “She didn’t have a baby. She has a niece.” It can be confusing to see how Ronnie is affectionately called Baby Biles. But one fan decided to confess, “Guys, I’m actually her child… We’ve been keeping it a secret for a while” While many fans have continued to slam the misinformation, this cheeky confession might have just added to the confusion!

The 7-time Olympic medalist is currently tied with Shannon Miller for the most medals won by a U.S. gymnast. But Biles is looking to compete in floor exercises, beam, other team events, and the all-around. We might likely witness her effortlessly shatter the record in the French capital. As the oldest American gymnast on the team prepares to dominate the floor at the Summer Games, there’s one question on everyone’s mind: Will Simone Biles add several more golds to her tally?
