Nobody probably had as hectic of a summer as Suni Lee. After going through an arduous journey to reach the Paris Olympics, she showed the whole world that she still has the ability to perform at the highest level as she won three medals. But, now that she has proven everything she could to the spectators, the gymnast is enjoying some downtime.

Lee’s first move after the Paris Olympics was to leave her hometown in Minnesota to move to New York. After this, she attended a lot of events in the city, like the US Open. But what caught everyone’s attention was her appearance in New York Fashion Week, which earned her a lot of praise. Now, it seems that she is not done with fashion events after all, as she made an appearance in the recent Victoria’s Secret fashion show.

Suni Lee was left in awe by a K-Pop star at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show

Lee attended the event of Victoria’s Secret on October 15 as part of her break from gymnastics under hectic schedules. As per the gymnast’s Instagram story, she was asked about what’s one fashion advice she would give everyone. “I feel like I would just say to be confident and just stick to what you know. Nothing more, nothing less, because your average is good enough. That’s my motto,” Suni said.

However, that was not the only story Suni Lee posted. She also shared one with South Korean band Blackpink member Lisa. In that story, the singer can be seen performing one of her songs on the runway. Suni was absolutely star struck by her appearance, which was captured in her story. She captioned it, saying, “my queen, @lalalalisa_m 😍😍.” It was an interesting scene to observe as Suni, a star of her own making, got her own fangirl moment upon seeing the star. After the event, she uploaded another story of her posing amicably with the Korean singer.

The gymnast also published more stories of the legendary models Irina Shayk and Gigi Hadid as they strolled on the runway. So, it appears that she quite enjoyed her stay at the event. That was already her second fashion event she appeared at after NYFW. But what was her journey there like?

Lee’s time at the New York Fashion Week

Suni Lee had always loved fashion, but this was the first chance she got to attend New York Fashion Week. This is because the event coincided with her training prior to competing at various events, but following the Olympics and after relocation to New York, she finally chose to make her debut. Impressive, though new, she turned quite a number of heads at the event. Suni collaborated with stylist Brian Meller on designing outfits to be worn by her throughout the whole affair.

Talking about working with him, she said, “Since this was my first fashion week, I wanted to experiment with different trends and try new things,” she says. “I’m really happy that each look felt different and had its own vibe.” Of the many looks, her favorite was an off-white colored dress she wore along with Gianvito Rossi shoes. She also spoke about how she enjoyed one of her first New York extravaganzas as the show of Tommy Hilfiger took place on the Staten Island Ferry.

But the events didn’t stop for her there, and Suni Lee attended numerous other shows of famous designers such as Michael Kors, Brandon Maxwell, and Simkhai. During the Michael Kors event, she talked about her fashion sense, saying many of the NYFW events didn’t match her style. Still, she was ready to experiment. She said, “I never thought I would get to do the trouser short trend from Michael Kors, but that ended up being one of my favorite looks of the week!” Suni also attended a lot of after parties, which, according to her, were fun indeed. She learned mainly, “Tailoring really is where the magic is.”

Suni Lee also encountered different celebrities at the event. Hollywood star Olivia Wilde was starstruck when she realized she was standing next to her. In addition to this, she also met Mindy Kaling and vice president Kamala Harris’s stepdaughter Ella Emhoff. Thus, Suni’s first NYFW went very well, and we can hope to see her in such events in the future. She proved this fact by attending the Victoria’s Secret fashion show.
