Jordan Chiles experienced a mixed journey in Paris. While she delivered a stellar performance to secure the team gold medal, her pursuit of individual accolades took a challenging turn. Despite winning a bronze ahead of her Romanian counterpart, Ana Barbosu, Chiles faced setbacks that could have shaken her confidence. However, instead of dwelling on the mishap, the Olympian quickly refocused her energy, channeling her strengths into a different arena—her collegiate career with the UCLA Bruins.
Although returning to UCLA might seem like a contingency plan after Paris, it was anything but. Chiles had her sights set on UCLA long before the Paris Games. In an earlier interview with USA Today Sports’ Mackenzie Salmon, the 23-year-old gymnast affirmed her decision, emphasizing that it wasn’t contingent on her Olympic outcomes. “UCLA does give you a different effect,” she said, highlighting the unique connection she felt with the university.
Chiles’ bond with UCLA is well-documented. Before embarking on her Olympic run, she represented the Bruins during the 2022 and 2023 NCAA seasons, where she made her mark with multiple titles in floor exercise and uneven bars. Through these experiences, she developed a strong sense of belonging to the blue and gold. Now, with her elite international stint behind her, Chiles is returning to UCLA for the final two years of her NCAA eligibility. But this time, she brings with her the weight of being an Olympic gold medalist, a status that raises expectations and responsibilities.

The gymnast is well aware that her role within the team has evolved. After the Bruins’ Meet the Team event, Chiles reflected on her teammates’ performances and the team’s chemistry. Praising the group, she said, “On the outside looking in, because I didn’t really do that much except for the floor, I definitely can say everybody looked really happy. Everybody looked, you know, nice and present when it was needed, cheering each other on. So, I’m really, really proud of them for that.”
Next up, the Olympian was questioned about what exactly her role was being such an experienced athlete. Chiles immediately mentioned that she would be donning the role of a supporter for the younger gymnastics coming in. Having gone through the tension of a freshman herself, Chiles will be helping them to calm their nerves. “So it was definitely interesting to kind of be in a different role, but I kind of liked it,” Chiles chimed in.
Meanwhile, despite all the glitz and glamor taking over Chiles’ mind, the darkness of Paris still persists. While she is not giving up on her fight for the Olympic bronze medal, Chiles also teased a flashback of Paris on her UCLA comeback. Performing at ‘Meet the Bruins’, the 23-year-old executed a perfectly rehearsed floor routine that left everyone with goosebumps.

Jordan Chiles delivers a shocking floor performance as the battle of Paris wages on
USAG and Jordan Chiles’ appeal to the Court of Arbitration for a review has long been dismissed. But that was not enough to peg back Chiles’ unwavering grit and determination. Taking things to the next level, Chiles has now submitted her plea to the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland. Adding to that, Team USA also claimed to have video evidence to allegedly prove that the inquiry was made within the stipulated time frame. Well, with the legal process ongoing, Chiles is also making waves on the gymnastics mat.
Making the first appearance for the Bruins in a while, Chiles performed a mesmerizing floor routine. However, as the music of Beyonce hit, she started to make her moves. The crowd and her teammates were dumbfounded. This is because it was the very same floor exercise from Paris that resulted in such a scathing trauma for the gymnast.
