What was Jonathan Owens doing? Fans already know that he didn’t get much of an opportunity to attend Simone Biles’s events considering his NFL duties. However, the Core Hydration Classic saw Owens cheering for Simone from the stands. Then, last week once again saw the football safety go one step up to support his wife in Fort Worth for the Xfinity US Gymnastics Championships. But what he did there didn’t go unnoticed by people.
Going beyond just cheering for his wife, Owens took up a much more serious role. He was seen religiously taking notes from the stands while Simone Biles was performing. With that, Jonathan seemed to be overturning his previous image of having absolutely no knowledge of gymnastics.
A recent post on X by a gymnastics fan’s account noted Owens’ serious mood while watching Simone perform. “So refreshing to see ppl converting their partners to learning the gym code,” the account joked on X.

While one might argue that Biles’ thunderous performance on the tournament’s first day was worth taking notes on, many were curious about what the NFL player was doing. Later on, Simone Biles shared exactly what Owens was jotting down on the paper. However, till then, X users took over the platform with their interpretations. What did they say?
Taking technical notes or writing a message of love? Speculations run!
It seems that some fans still can not help but poke fun at Owens. One such comment read, “Is retiring from football and learning how to gymnastics or joining the ranks of journalist?” However, some familiar faces from the gymnastic realm had a more praising tone for Jonathan’s act.
What is the world is Jonathan Owens taking notes on? Is retiring from football and learning how to gymnastics or joining the ranks of journalist?

Only days ago, Michigan alum Olivia Karas was heard praising Simone Biles for what she brings to the table in the world of gymnastics. Calling Biles a “breath of fresh air“, Karas made it clear that seeing the Olympian in action was an exhilarating experience. Seeing Jonathan take notes, Karas now thinks Jonathan might be looking for a new milestone to achieve.
Her post went viral, and many shared similar sentiments.
As a Bears fan… I swear to all the gods I will never watch a game again if they don’t let him go watch Simone in Paris.

With that, one fan thought that Jonathan was not up for any serious gymnastic work. Rather, he might be penning a note of love and appreciation for his better half. But it turns out that was not the case. Simone Biles clarified what her husband was doing.
I hope he’s writing a card to her about the meet for her to read after and yes, I’m a romantic, lol

In a press conference, the gymnast shared, “At the last meet, Jonathan saw my parents doing it. He understood why they did it, saying, ‘Of course, you get that, I’m one of those.’ Whenever he learns about something, he wants to really dive into it. He’s kind of a nerd in that aspect, in the best way. So if he’s learning about gymnastics, he’s going to dive into it. That’s what he was doing—thinking for everybody and adding it up and stuff like that.”

Clearly, Jonathan voluntarily took up the task of jotting down scores and making calculations.

Well, we guess Jonathan’s support worked because Simone Biles became a national champion for the ninth time. While several gymnasts are aiming to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the 27-year-old looks in great form.
With her recent win, Biles officially earned her spot for the U.S. Olympic Trials this summer.
