The U.S.A. Gymnastics sent a strong team to Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Summer Olympics. The team comprised Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Laurie Hernandez, and Madison Kocian. The ?Fierce Five? trounced all other opponents to clinch the gold in the team all-around competition. These girls trained for the biggest scuffle of their lives and, in due course, formed a special bond.

Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez, and Aly Raisman, in particular, developed a heartwarming friendship to the extent that even their likes and dislikes synced. All three, when posed with the question of a celebrity they would wish to hang out with answered ? Blake Lively. Now almost seven years later, that bond still persists, and they forget themselves in each other?s company. The recent hilarious video from Laurie Hernandez with her former teammate is a case in point in this regard.

Last night, Laurie Hernandez uploaded a funny video on Instagram stories from the corridor of the hotel she had been staying in. She handed her phone to her former captain, who looked confused as she figured out what was happening. Raisman held the camera as Hernandez suddenly broke into a spontaneous run. She ran down the corridor like a child in wild play with her arms flailing about. Seeing this, Aly Raisman could not contain her laughter, and while stifling to catch her breath, she asked incredulously, ?What are you doing?? This was just before dinner, and Raisman still held a plate full of food in a hotel robe. The shenanigans began just before they went down to the dining room to bring themselves a meal to gorge.

Even inside the guest-filled dining room, Hernandez could not shed her mirthful avatar. She clicked a selfie using the wall decor to catch her reflection. However, it was not your usual mirror but two panels of shiny steel plates attached to the wall. The cabinet underneath contained the food, and Laurie Hernandez was especially pleased to see the hash browns. She smiled for the camera, but on the reflecting surface, only her eyes and teeth were visible. This provided a rib-tickling photo that perfectly captured her joyous spirit. The last time, she was in the company of Aly Raisman, it was a more sombre occasion needing restraint and discretion.

The two Olympians visited OSU in April to talk about mental health to the students. They addressed a full auditorium at the Wes Watkins Center and revealed the many challenges that interfere with their ability to maintain a healthy perspective on life. Hernandez said, ?Being able to have family, friends, teammates and then especially when you’re out in a place like the Olympics where the pressure is just so high you know that it’s not just your country that’s watching you it’s the entire globe that’s watching you?. The gymnastics ace had relied on her support system to get over the grief of missing out on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Laura Johnson, a swimmer at OSU with an Olympic dream, moderated the session. She rightly assessed the bond between the two women saying, ?there’s two best friends?. Now, this recent video has proven their love for each other, and they were thankful for the opportunity to revisit their cherished memories.
