A few days back, Fred Richard had said in an interview, “When it comes to the gym I’m just pushing upgrades now, trying to get those Olympic routines ready.” The same tone was reflected when he recently showed up at the GMA stage for an interview. Fred explained, “I mean, imagine every single day you know you have about five months to give everything. So it’s eating right, sleeping right, putting hours into the gym, just going all in.” But it seemed that the secret of the stellar success was not the training alone.

It is the hunger for betterment that keeps him going. In the same interview he added, “.And so I’m just, I’m never satisfied. And I just always have something to look to get to, you know.” With his success, Fred has been able to turn the attention to male gymnastics in a heavily women-dominated scenario. As the host of the interview pointed out, “There’s so many people, so many young people in particular, who didn’t normally watch the sport, but because of you and because of that flavor that you bring to it.” There lies another goal of Fred that goe beyond his preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

A dream to uplift the sport

Fred Richard has been aiming to alter perceptions surrounding male gymnastics, acknowledging its comparatively smaller audience and visibility within the gymnastics world. In his recent interview, he candidly stated, “We’re in a sport where there’s not as many viewers, you know. It’s a much smaller sport, especially on the men’s side. I had a dream to let the world know what I’m doing…so I just started telling my story and people love it.

Motivated by this desire, Richard turned to TikTok, where his content quickly garnered attention and catapulted him to fame. Interestingly, he has an impressive following of 6,28000 followers on the platform. His iconic performance at the 2023 World Championships is surely a reason for his fame.
