Strength, balance, and flexibility. These are the things that one associates with gymnastics. But The U.S. Women?s World Team Selection Camp showed us that it is more than that. It is a test of your best self. And being questioned even after putting up your best self is truly frustrating.

The selection camp was exhilarating. Triumph in Texas was filled with twists and turns. Amidst all nerves, Shilese Jones grabbed second place, scoring 55.300, just 0.400 points shy of Simone Biles. With her stellar performance, she moved past Biles at a point. But What if there are roadblocks at every single move?

Shilese Jones opened up with USA Gymnastics at the arena of the selection camp. The star opened up about her performances. With reference to Day 2, Jones said, ?It started on a beam. I felt pretty confident. I did a double-double. They questioned it, so I unfortunately didn?t get credit for that. They also questioned me on my bounds. It was a little frustrating because I went from question to question, but I was pretty confident.?

21-year-old Shilese Jones is doing it all, and she is doing it well! The 2022 world silver medalist shined on both days of the U.S. Women?s World Team Selection Camp, which took place in Texas. In the interview, reflecting on her journey in gymnastics, she opened up about her past.

Jones Gets Candid About Her Past

The silver world medalist shared her thoughts when asked if the selection event feels different compared to her successes at the World Championship. ?I would say I?m pushing a lot harder. There are some upgrades that I want to put out. I feel like I wasn?t there fully last year.?

Shi has clearly shown her abilities this year. She also feels the same. ?I feel more confident in my skills this year and hopefully looking forward to making a scene.? Her abilities are not just limited to performances on the mats. She indeed is a warrior in all senses.

Jones has returned to the competition for the first time in nearly 10 months. After overcoming physical injuries like fractured back and foot and losing her father in 2021, she shows that she is no quitter. She loves to aim high and be a driving force for all the youngsters. All this increases the anticipation for Paris 2024
