On March 9, the Baton Rouge witnessed Olivia Dunne once again in the blue leotard, sprinkling her flares on the mat. That evening, the gymnastic ingenue went further than being on the floor exercise. After achieving a hearty 9.9 on the floor exercise, the uneven bars routine earned her a hefty 9.875. So, eventually, those gems from Olivia Dunne in the night helped the LSU Tigers to go on top again. In such a situation, her mother, Katherine Dunne’s shoutout, was most expected.
Ultimately, she did that last night. But keeping a tab on the Louisiana gymnastics squad’s fiery performance, she hailed another milestone achieved by the program.

After successfully dismissing the quad challenge on March 8, the LSU Tigers prevailed as the achiever of 198.125 NQS (Net Qualifying Score). This is one of the rare occasions in program history to be on that throne. Moreover, the Jay Clark-coached program also enjoyed the rare milestone of reaching 49.695 FX NQS. The sports raconteur, Drew Porche, calibrated this data and posted it on X after the Baton Rouge challenge. Katherine Dunne vociferously shared the tweet on her IG story, flaunting a carousel of images, showing Olivia Dunne and others.
W/ their performance tonight, @LSUgym has improved their NQS to 198.125, their first time w/ a NQS at 198+.
Their FX NQS is now 49.695. That is the highest FX NQS any school has EVER had!!!

Eventually, the NQS discussion came into force after the ranking articulation in NCAA gymnastics. The mathematical process describes the scale as considering the top 6 scores earned by a gymnastic program in the season. But in that top six scores, at least three have to be from the away meets. So this way, the home run discrepancies can be flushed. In that scenario, the LSU Tigers kept their score in the margin of 197 at least, albeit a home or away run. Olivia Dunne’s squad boasted about having the second top score this season as well after Oklahoma, a staggering 198.475. However, Livvy once shared her take on the Tiger Nation’s fiery run this season.

Olivia Dunne’s concerted dream of the podium finish
Despite a fluctuating appearance on the mat, Olivia Dunne never went out of her practice sessions or gym classes. Katherine Dunne could vouch for it, as she witnessed that determination in person. But a national championship could be the riveting prize for all these sacrifices, as she argued to SportsCenter. “It’s an unprecedented area for LSU gym to win the national championship. I just think it would be so special for Tiger Nation,” the LSU senior stated. However, after achieving so many gems and jewels, the crown of the national championship would be unparalleled for the bunch as Olivia Dunne measured.

But Livvy is still counting on her part in the squad. After bidding adieu to elite gymnastics, the LSU pack sheltered her aspiration to become the memorable spearhead. Eventually, Katherine also played her role to keep her daughter’s dream ahead. Last year, when Livvy was undergoing the labrum injury, Kat appeared with the pacifying message, “proud of you.” So, the mother-daughter duo is still on their journey, complementing each other.
