The promise was to display the funny side of a Greek mythical superhero on stage. Furthermore, to add innovativeness to the performance, the dancers announced to bring the century-old Charleston dancing move to life. In the end, everything didn’t go as planned. This is a review of Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold’s performance on Dancing with the Stars last night. But things wouldn’t have to go this way only. Could they have pulled it off differently? Absolutely.
Before moving to the Disney night, both Nedoroscik and Arnold had been feeling top of the world. The credit goes to their extraordinary performance on the Dedication night. On that prized evening, the Olympian pulled the best trick out of his hat-pommel horse and flaunted it on the stage. In the meantime, Arnold accompanied him on stage entirely, demonstrating her outstanding footwork. The endeavor led to a score of 33 out of 40, indicating success. There, Stephen accomplished two things at once with his performance.
He had wanted to mix his gymnastics prowess with his evolving dance tricks and he did that evening. And he wanted to send a message regarding the popularity of men’s gymnastics in the USA. Nedoroscik ticked that box as well. Later, the team, Arnold Pommel, appeared on the screen, announcing to stage “A Star is Born” in their next performance through Charleston. But on October 22, they mixed up things in the ballroom of DWTS.

On Tuesday, both Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold put their effort into maintaining the moves and steps on the stage. However, the judges believe Stephen missed the timing. According to them, the gymnast was full of enthusiasm. However, occasionally, the added speed propelled him forward, causing him to miss the melody. The theme reflected Carrie Ann Inaba’s words when she said, “But a little bit off-time hero. I do see all of the growth by you there is a new calmness, but you just got a little ahead of the music, and it stayed with you the whole time.” Bruno Tonioli mentioned the same thing with the advice, “You have to work on timing.” Meanwhile, Derek Hough echoed his colleague’s statements. But all of them agreed to the scintillating athleticism of Nedoroscik. Those reviews sent shockwaves through both dancers.
Later, Rylee published an Instagram story in which she described the overall experience as “scary.” Sitting on the floor in the snippet, Nedoroscik nodded in agreement from behind. A tiring experience, isn’t it? Yet, they still have hopes in the contest. Despite their botched-up performance on Tuesday, team Arnold Pommel earned 24 out of 30 (each of the judges awarded them with 8). That number kept them out of the elimination zone.
But their names were announced as the last during the elimination round. That was bound to generate extra sweats for both performers. In fact, it did. In the shared snippet, the Utah native said, “That was a scary elimination.” Again, Nedoroscik displayed his agreement, sitting behind. But what is his take on the mistakes he committed in his performance on October 22?

On Disney Night, the teams performed on the theme, choosing their topics. However, later that evening, the members of the teams linked up to celebrate the theme with a few extra dance steps. On that occasion, Stephen Nedoroscik joined Team Roar to compete against Ilona Maher’s team. Ultimately, Nedoroscik’s team had to face another nerve-wracking moment, digesting a defeat from Maher’s group. But there as well, the two-time Olympic medalist repeated the same mistake.
The team was set to stage “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King,” from The Lion King movie. In the meantime, Dwight Howard and Stephen Nedoroscik started beautifully, pushing the accelerator. But in the middle, the gymnast mistimed his flair, causing a loose point in the performance. Fans didn’t miss those errors. On social media, people asked questions and criticized him for being ‘stiff’ in his dance moves. However, Nedoroscik accepted his mistake.

Later, in a conversation with the host, the Worcester native laid out, “Yeah, I mean, it’s a problem I had in the past, and I thought I was able to fix it in the past, so it kind of stinks to hear it creep back up.” But he isn’t among those who lose hope early. In the conversation, Nedoroscik promised to make a comeback, diminishing every shortcoming in his performance.
Rylee Arnold shared the same tone while adding her thoughts. Eventually, she said, “Yes, we’re here, and it’s a new week. I’m so excited to put in the work this week and really just nail our dance so that it’s really strong.” Meanwhile, a chunk of fans have also stood beside Nedoroscik to show their support. Now, next week will add an episode to the ongoing saga.
