As the 2024 Paris Olympics inch closer, Simone Biles is leaving no stone unturned to make up for what she missed out on in Tokyo three years ago. That includes seeking help from her peers and colleagues, even if they’ve hung up their boots. While Biles has been on stellar form in recent months, she still might need every assistance she gets to reclaim her throne on the grand stage.
Earlier today, the 2016 Olympic gold medalist and Simone’s former teammate Laurie Hernandez posted on Instagram. Captioned, “should I come out of retirement???” the post is accompanied by a brief video clip of the retired gymnast doing a handstand on the uneven bar. Observing how Hernandez can still execute the move with flawless grace, Biles petitioned the former to lend her skills for the task ahead.

“pls give me this cast, I just need to borrow it for a few weeks,” commented the 27-year-old under Laurie’s post, making it clear that the Olympics would require her to bring out everything from her arsenal if Biles wished to re-affirm her elite status at the big rumble in Paris. If Hernandez decides to arrive with the necessary tips, Biles’ fans can confidently say that the latter’s chances of adding more feathers to her cap at the Paris Olympics will be amplified multifold.

An arduous climb back to the top spot awaits Simone Biles
Simone pulled out of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics final due to her sudden run-in with “the twisties”, also missing out on the chance to defend her gold medals. However, ever since the incident, Biles has put her mind to hard work to bounce back from the snag. Winning gold at the 2023 World Championships, and then going on to show her worth at the Core Hydration US Classic as well as at the Xfinity US Gymnastics Championships, and finally at last month’s Olympic Team Trials, Biles has made it clear she will be coming for it all at the Paris Games.
In all of these competitions, Simone consistently came out on the top of the scoreboards. Furthermore, on the first day of the US Championship, Biles went on to record her first-ever above 60 points since she did so at the 2021 Olympic Team Trials. Naturally, her claims to win gold at the upcoming Olympics aren’t baseless and her fans know it. Biles’ performances received yet another nod today as she was honored with the Best Comeback Athlete at the 2024 ESPY Awards in LA.

On the other hand, Biles has added quite a few new weapons to her armory in recent months. The highlight of these would certainly be perfecting the dangerous Yurchenko Double Pike and getting it named after herself (Biles II). For a long time, this particular move has remained a difficult task for the 27-year-old, however, at the Core Hydration Classic, she managed to show the world that Simone Biles can pull off anything if she puts her mind to it.
While Biles rides on the high tides of confidence and form, will her former teammate come forward with something more to offer? What do you suspect? Tell us in the comments.
