The 2024 NCAA Gymnastics Regional Championship, aka the Fayetteville Regional Champions, saw the LSU Tigers team display absolute finesse on the mat. Olivia Dunne, along with his team, flew to the 14th program title and also secured a ticket to the NCAA Championships later this month. Scoring a total of 198.250, the No.2 LSU left the Arkansas, Kentucky, and Minnesota teams trailing behind. Collegiate gymnastics holds a strong ground inarguably. But is it entirely true?

An X user, American sports commentator, and former artistic gymnast, Kathy Johnson is popular for her contribution to the sporting world. Making use of her knowledge, she opines after almost every event that leaves a mark on her heart. The NCAA Championships, be it gymnastics or basketball, caught her attention. But her complaint is also legit.

In a recent post by Kathy Johnson, the caption reads, “NCAA Gym Regionals are as exciting as NCAA Basketball’s March Madness & Final Four, but there’s no TV air time to showcase it because basketball DESERVES this spotlight! I can’t wait to see Iowa/South Carolina. PLEASE, NCAA, fix it so gymnasts can while everyone watches!” Since the NCAA Championships are approaching, worldwide fans would wish to get a glimpse of their favorite performing gymnasts. But it seems like NCAA basketball got more screen time in the Regionals.

At the NCAA women’s March Madness championship game, fans will ogle at the match between Iowa Hawkeyes and South Carolina. This would be the major highlight of Caitlin Clark, since she will play her last collegiate game this year. Having said so, Kathy Johnson, also a basketball fanatic, said, I want more for GYMNASTICS!”. Interestingly, disregarding all the obstructions, the LSU team went one step ahead of the NCAA title.

A stellar performance by the LSU team

In 2019, at Baton Rouge Regionals, the Tigers team last won the Regionals. Repeating this feat this year, the team stands at top two alongside No. 10 Arkansas. On Sunday, these two teams will lock horns with the Berkley Regionals top finishers. In Fort Worth, the NCAA semifinals are all set to kick off on April 18. Head Coach Jay Clark, though, have been yellow carded on this leg once, never lost hope on the girls.

“I’m proud of the girls. They had a consistent and steady mindset from start to finish. We had that one mishap to start on bars, but I think in the long run that makes us better. We’re battle tested”, said he. Olivia Dunne, scoring a career high at the Regionals, will look to bag her last NCAA title soon.
