Is Simone Biles the greatest gymnast of all time, or is there someone better?

The women’s gymnastics events take place on July 28 at the Bercy Arena. However, the podium practice on July 25 might just have given us a thrilling glimpse of what’s to come. Simone Biles has once again showed us why she is the GOAT. She attempted the Yurchenko double pike vault, now known as the Biles II, on Thursday. While many athletes wouldn’t attempt this complicated move, her secure landing solidified the fact that she had this nail down!

Biles walked off the mat as her teammates continued to cheer for her. Throughout the session, the gymnast was paying extra attention to minimize any errors in her routine. There is a lot at stake for the most decorated gymnast after her heartbreaking decision to step down at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. At the U.S. Olympic Trials, she expressed how things will be different this time around. “This is definitely our redemption tour,” and her routines at the podium practice show just that!

Even though Biles continues to enthrall fans with her performance, one fan’s genuine reaction on X shows how majestic the most decorated gymnast’s routines usually are. Not only did she flawlessly nail the notoriously difficult move, but she made it look so easy! They promptly shared their reaction on X, “Simone just STUCK her double pike cold and there was an unintentional holy SH*T echo from the media section.” This only leaves many excited to see how she fares on Sunday.

 

Back in 2021, Simone Biles attempted the Yurchenko double pike for the very first time. Even though she couldn’t show off this incredible skill at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she finally landed it at the 2023 World Championships. Why is that incredible? This move is known to be notoriously difficult. If it isn’t attempted correctly, the gymnasts could awkwardly land on their neck or head. But the queen of gymnastics nailed this move during the qualifying round at the championships, making her the first female athlete to perfect this move.

During her last attempt at the world championships, the gymnast scored a solid 9.8 in the event. However, her flawless execution is a testament to Biles continues to perfect her routines. If the incredible height after her dismount wasn’t impressive enough, she landed effortlessly on the mat amidst a loud cheer from the stands. All smiles, she walked towards her teammates, who were just as excited as she was.

Simone Biles arrived early on Thursday with the U.S team and had a lighthearted start filled with stretches, workouts and a lot of laughing. But as soon as time comes to begin their official practice, everyone had their game faces on. Even though we’re used to seeing the gymnast effortlessly dominate on the mat, she was seen paying extra attention to her balance beam routine. She faced a minor issue when she struggled to connect her mount sequence on the beam. But it all came together with her solid landing after a full-twisting double tuck dismount!

Her perfect routine left the gymnastics community flabbergasted

It’s no secret that the 27-year-old is amazing at her sport. But at every competition, she still finds ways to surpass everyone’s expectations. Many fans couldn’t believe how effortless her routine looked. One fan expressed, I screamed and jumped up from my coach —- WOW – unreal!!!!!!!” While she has performed this move before, it has never looked as seamless as it did during practice. Another fan agreed, “Correct reaction.” You don’t see a perfect execution of the Yurchenko double pike every day, do you?

Another fan simply stated, She is ready!!! 🔥🎉🔥🎉” This is the gymnast’s third Olympic berth, and many fans have been waiting to see her perform on the world’s biggest stage.
