Xfinity US Championship 2024 Day 1 was a rollercoaster, indeed! After Yul Moldauer finished the first day of the men’s events on a low, the women’s event also saw some lows. Simone Biles was in line to jump in on the action in Fort Worth, but one of her younger colleagues was left distraught moments ago.
CaMarah Williams became prominent earlier this year when Biles shared snippets from the former’s floor exercise routine on social media. While the Olympian’s shoutout definitely brought more attention to the 16-year-old, the teenager also reciprocated well by doing fairly well at February’s Winter Cup. However, Williams’ run at the US Championships ended badly, and fans scurried to tend to their broken hearts.
A recent post on X by Gymnastics Now shared news of Williams’ vault routine in Texas. “Fan-favorite CaMarah Williams comes up very short on her double-twisting Yurchenko and is very slowly limping off the podium” reads the caption of the post. The official USA Gymnastics YouTube channel also shared CaMarah’s attempt to do the difficult move, where her tumble can be seen properly. From the looks of it, Williams’ right leg immediately goes stiff as soon as she hits the mat. Understandably, fans are concerned.

The Kansas native has been showing off her mettle on big stages for quite some time. In 2022, Williams competed in the Nastia Liukin Cup in the junior division, where she bagged a first-place finish in the floor exercise. At last year’s Women’s Development Program National Championships in Oklahoma too, CaMarah clinched the Junior C top-place finish.
However, her latest snag has left many fans feeling her current emotions, and they haven’t backed down from coming up with encouraging words.

“That was so painful to watch,” commented Katherine, who, like many of us, was hoping to see more improvements in Williams’ performances after she finished last month’s Core Hydration Classic in 29th place, with 49.050 points. Simone won that event as well, with 59.500.
That was so painful to watch. Hope it’s not serious🙏

A torn Achilles is something that sends shivers down the spines of athletes around the world. The Xfinity Championship has already claimed other victims thanks to injured ACL, and Mary is praying hard hoping a similar fate isn’t looking at Williams. ” Ouch!! I hope she’s okay & didn’t tear her ACL,” commented the fan.
Just saw the clip of her vault. Ouch!! I hope she’s okay & didn’t tear her ACL..I’ve done the same thing landing w/straight legs & tore mine. If she did, I wish her a speedy recovery. 🙏🏽

Rikey thinks something even worse could have happened to the gymnast, instead of being let off over just an injury. “she is lucky to be alive after that vault,” wrote this fan as fans worldwide felt CaMarah’s pain by the looks of her clinched jaw in the YouTube video.

For anyone who took note of William’s vault attempt, the sound her landing makes can come off as pretty disturbing. The veterans and experienced fanbase can attest: such a sound can never bode well for any athlete, and with the younglings hoping to make her mark ahead of the Team Trials, it could be even more disheartening. “the landing even sounded bad. crunchy“, wrote Elise who could almost feel the pain herself.

With the Olympics coming only once every four years, every gymnast from around the globe looks forward to representing their countries with the utmost zeal. For a young star like CMarah, the ambitions can be even more passionate than others. Possibly referring to that, it can’t be helped but feel sad for anyone who misses out on the opportunity to have a fair shot at things. Reflecting that mindset, Kelli B commented, “I hate this for her.”
Oh no! I hate this for her
