In the recent clash between Arkansas and the LSU Tigers, both teams added another chapter to their rivalry. Despite a challenging loss to Missouri, the team bounced back with a stellar performance, securing a noteworthy top-10 victory over the seventh-ranked Arkansas. In a thrilling top-10 showdown, LSU emerged triumphant against Arkansas with a commanding score of 198.475 to 196.200. This marked the highest score of their season. It also secured a place in LSU history with the highest-ever recorded score. Head coach Jay Clark expressed satisfaction with the team’s goal. “We got better, and that’s what this week was about, that’s what the message was about… get things back on an even kill after we stumbled against Missouri,” Coach Clark said.

The Tigers dominated from the start, commencing on vault with standout performances. Led by Haleigh Bryant’s near-perfect score of 9.975, LSU not only exceeded their average vault score but set a tone for the entire competition. The Razorbacks, however, struggled on uneven bars, accumulating a score of 48.175. As the meet progressed, LSU maintained its dominance, outshining Arkansas in every rotation and leading convincingly at the halfway mark.

Olivia Dunne’s team overcoming weaknesses

Even on the balance beam, considered their weakest event, LSU exhibited unwavering composure. They secured impressive scores from Sierra Ballard, Konnor McClain, and Olivia Dunne, among others. The Tigers sealed their victory with a stellar floor routine, showcasing the depth of their talent and commitment to excellence. Despite acknowledging room for improvement, Coach Clark highlighted the win’s importance.

Certainly when you’re coming out of a disappointment, getting back in front of your home crowd can be a tremendous boost,” Clark said earlier in the week. LSU consistently performs at a high level in all events. The team is among the top nationally. There’s little doubt about their potential to contend for a trophy as the season progresses.
