Last year the star gymnast of Louisiana State University Olivia Dunne made a bold promise vowing to give her all to bring NCAA glory to the college. Now, as the 2024 NCAA gymnastics Championships rolls in full swing, she is well on the road to fulfilling that promise. With victories over Ohio State, UCLA, and Utah, Livvy is already celebrating. But it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of follow Tigresses.

As LSU took on the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad Meet, it had to face fiery opponents in Oklahoma, Utah, and UCLA. But with Olivia’s brilliance and a perfect 10 from a freshman, LSU easily secured a top ranking.

Celebrations light up LSU Tigers camp as McClain lands with a flourish

LSU secured a 2nd place finish in the finals on Saturday afternoon in the Maverik Center. The brightest of the stars was freshman Konnor McClain, who recorded her first career perfect 10.00. While it was only her second bar routine in college gymnastics, this perfect bar score it marked the seventh such achievement in LSU’s history. As McClain made a perfect landing on the ground, her teammates, including Olivia Dunne, jumped in celebrations. The stadium went berserk, clamouring and chanting her name.

Posting a clip of her picture-perfect landing, fans were on the tenterhooks of hysteria. As McClain lands after several flips, she jumps in celebration and hugs her coach in joy. LSU’s 7th perfect scorer then runs to her teammates and receives overwhelming cheers from Olivia Dunne and Co. But the final celebrations only commence when the perfect 10.00 was announced on the board, and it’s absolute mayhem in the Tigresses camp with the whole squad jumping together in excitement. Meanwhile, Olivia was highly impressive in her floor routine.

Olivia Dunne is stellar in her floor routines

Crossing the 197 mark for the first time this season, LSU scored 197.150 beating Utah and UCLA while falling behind Oklahoma, who scored an astonishing 197.900. With all-around brilliance in every routine, LSU ranked 3rd on the floor with a score of 49.525 going into the second half of the meet and was brilliantly led by performances of Olivia Dunne and Sierra Ballard.

Ballard scored 9.825 followed by Olivia Dunne with 9.850 in the second spot. In a video posted on X, Livvy could be seen mesmerizing the crowd with eye-pleasing routine on the floor. She made perfect flips and stretches in tune with the soothing music. The second rotation was led by KJ Johnson, with a score of 9.925. LSU will now lock horns with Kentucky in the SEC opener on 19th January.
