Is Simone Biles the greatest gymnast of all time, or is her comeback overrated?

If there’s one thing Simone Biles does well, it is making people stop and turn. The Olympian bowed out of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after suffering from a case of the ‘twisties.’ But after a two-year-long hiatus, the 27-year-old returned to the mat. After qualifying for the Paris Olympics, she called her third stint the ‘Redemption Tour.’ However, this experience proved to be so much more than that for everyone on the team.

The Olympian has been busy with the ‘Gold Over America Tour’ that commenced on September 16 at Oceanside. But during her stop in Los Angeles, Young Hollywood’s Lesley Robins caught up with gymnast. The host reiterated how Biles has come a long way since the incident at the Japanese capital and asked her what her takeaway from the Paris Summer Games was. “We brought home some hardware, but really, the lessons that we learned and the bounce back that we had from Tokyo was truly inspiring,” the Olympian stated.

Simone Biles had to deal with immense backlash when she withdrew from Tokyo. Several went as far as to label her as a ‘quitter’. However, Biles proved everyone wrong by clinching 4 Olympic medals – 3 golds and 1 silver, at the Bercy Arena. She continued, “Not just for us as athletes and to give us that confidence, but I think we shared a lesson with our audience that ‘its okay to not be okay,’ and you can still go and do great things afterwards.”

Many fans were concerned that the Olympian would succumb to a similar fate in Paris. But this time, she had a few tricks up her sleeve. If there’s one practice she would never let go of, it would be her therapy sessions. During her time in the City of Light, the gymnast made sure to attend the sessions whenever she could. Biles had perfectly incorporated them into her daily routine. “There’s power in being vulnerable, and that’s really exciting,” the 11x Olympic medalist reiterated.

We couldn’t agree more! Simone Biles continued to break glass ceilings at the French capital. Every time she stepped onto the mat, she made heads turn. The 27-year-old previously mentioned Team USA’s performance in Tokyo wasn’t the best. However, the gymnast reminded everyone she truly is the G.O.A.T walking about with a bedazzled goat necklace immediately after she clinched her second all-around Olympic title. But now that everything is said and done, what’s next for the Olympian?

During another recent interview with NBC San Diego’s Steve Luke, Biles kept things just as ambiguous. While her focus remains on the tour, Luke asked if she would decide about 2028 soon. “Everyone is different. We’re getting a little bit older,” she shared. By the time LA 2028 arrives, Biles will be 31, making her the oldest on the squad. But, ever the team player, she reassured that if she does decide to compete, she knows her team will have her back.
