The 2024 NCAA gymnastics season is in full swing, and the University of Utah women’s college gymnastics team has been performing exceptionally well. They even secured the third position in the power rankings with a score of 198.075. As the team continues to make waves, a key member is also garnering attention across the world ahead of the Paris Olympics.

This seasoned gymnast, once named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, hails from the Great Britain team and represented her country at the 2020 Summer Olympics, clinching a bronze medal in the team event. And now, as the Paris Olympics draw near, she is set to give Team USA stiff competition.

Amelie Morgan, the talented junior from the University of Utah gymnastics team, recently shared her aspirations for the 2024 Paris Olympics in an interview with Inside Gymnastics. When asked if the British women could defend their bronze Olympic medal from the Tokyo Olympics in Paris, the 20-year-old expressed confidence, stating, “I think all the girls are looking really strong at the moment, it’s definitely a realistic goal for the team to aim for.”

She further stated how it was a big motivator knowing that the team had accomplished this feat earlier. And she shared, “So I really hope the team is able to show consistency at the games and continue making history.” This message from the gymnast comes as exciting news for fans after her abrupt withdrawal midway through the 2024 NCAA gymnastics season as she aims for her final Olympics.

Her thoughts on her final Olympics

On January 23, 2024, Amelie Morgan took to Instagram to announce her departure from the Utes’ 2024 NCAA season. Sharing a photo of herself adorned in a pink leotard bearing the Great Britain flag, she wrote, “So happy to share that I will be coming back to the UK to compete in a few weeks!”. As this year progresses, Morgan also shared with Inside Gymnastics that, while making the Olympic team again would be incredible, she’s also being realistic about the outcome and doesn’t want to set herself up for disappointment if things don’t go as planned.

Amelie Morgan even shared how she’s already reached the peak of her career and said, “I know this would be my last Olympic cycle as a gymnast and I never want to look back at life and have any regrets, so just knowing that I at least tried my best is enough to make me happy!” As anticipation builds for the Paris Olympics, fans eagerly await Morgan’s performance on the pinnacle stage once again.
