The Chicago Bears just cannot seem to get back on the right track. After opening the season with a win, the Bears have been on the downward slope of the NFL on a consistent basis. Having played 13 games now, the Chicago Bears are languishing at the bottom of the NFC North. Coming into the season with a lot of hype, the Bears have put up a sorry story, getting only 4 wins while succumbing to defeat on 9 occasions, which one recent incident even riling up fans against Jonathan Owens. But before we get to the meat of the story…
Owing to their dismal run, the Bears have been trying to eliminate all the possible pain points recently. On one such instance, they sacked their head coach, Matt Eberflus last week. Unfortunately, the change of coach could not bring in a change in their luck. Facing an injury-ridden, lackluster San Francisco 49ers, Jonathan Owens and co. still succumbed to another humiliating defeat. Extending their losing streak to 7 games, the Bears lost 13-38.
The Bears had one of the worst offensive halves in NFL history. The team could muster only four yards of total offense. Despite Owens securing seven tackles and one interception, the Bears needed much more than individual brilliance to get over the line. Painting a sorry picture, Bears’ star QB, Caleb Williams chipped in with a mere 134 passing yards. His two touchdowns were also much below what was expected from him at the start of the season.

Biles is famously known to show up at Owens’ games every now and then. While her cheering often gives the Bears safety a significant boost in confidence, fans stated that nothing is going to work at the moment. They also stated that watching such a downfall of the Bears, a champion like Biles would be embarrassed to cheer for them. And there were more. Angry fans took to the comments section hurling all of their frustration at once.
Fans hit Jonathan Owens and Chicago Bears with scathing remarks
Adding a reference to Jonathan Owens’ previous stint with the Green Bay Packers before joining the Chicago Bears, one netizen commented, “Wish you guys were still in Green Bay!!!”. Probably after the Bears’ dismal performance this season, including a 7-game losing streak and poor offensive displays, the fan expresses frustration by wishing Owens was still a part of the rival team (Green Bay). The fan might be hoping that Owens might have performed better or contributed to success as a part of the Packers.
For the unversed, Owens played in all 17 games for the Packers with 11 starts and recorded 74 tackles (51 solo), three passes defended, a sack, two tackles for a loss, a quarterback hit, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
Reflecting on fan frustration with the Chicago Bears’ poor performance, despite Jonathan Owens and his teammates celebrating after scoring, one fan commented, “Simone Biles must be so embarrassed right now. Why are they even celebrating this point”.
Notably, this comes weeks after Owens had talked about how Simone inspires her to be better. “Just being with an elite athlete, it’s just like me being with her, it just motivates me every day. Like she’s the greatest in her sport ever. So, I’m like, some of that has to rub off on me. I just love having her there and like it just gives me more energy more like more effort. I’m like, ‘I want to impress impress my wife’,” the football safety said in a conversation with Fox 32 Chicago.
Amid the criticisms, another X user chose to express support for Jonathan Owens despite the Chicago Bears’ struggles. “I’m proud of every moment he has in any game”, wrote the fan.
Another comment from a netizen appeared to be a sarcastic dig on the issue. The fan commented, “The best play of the day for the Bears,” while another wrote, “Dude celebrating down 25 points. That should tell you a lot about the Bears”
