Simone Biles' comeback: Is she the greatest gymnast of all time, or is there someone better?

She believed she could, and so she did. Simone Biles’ resurgence on the Paris Olympic mats is a beacon of inspiration for many. Even for her husband, Chicago Bears star Jonathan Owens. The world witnessed his love for her as he flew down to the City of Lights to cheer for her in person. Noting down her scores from the stands to flashing the brightest smile on all her landings, his loving gestures for her kept pouring in one after the other. And now, he has given a teaser of the deep respect he harbors for his wife.

For the first time since her Paris spectacle, Owens has commented on how incredibly proud he is. In an NFL conference, he said, “When she did decide to come back, she accomplished everything that she set her mind to. And just being able to witness every day, the training you go through, you know, obviously the first day when she had the injury a little bit to her calf, and just her ability to persevere through that and go out there and still dominate. It’s just amazing to watch, man.” But did Owen’s praise for her stop there? Well, no. He continues to mention, “My wife’s a warrior. That’s the one thing I tell people.”

Owens hails Biles’ dedication and ability to knock challenges out of the park. Emerging past her Tokyo horrors, she came back to Paris and rose to the occasion. Despite the fact that just on Day 2, she had slipped during her warm up routine and was seen having difficulty in her calf. However, she taped her feet and was back in full swing. Ever since, she went on to have a 4-medal haul in Paris. To this Owens further adds, “And just pain tolerance and the way that she was able to go out there…And like I said, look graceful with everything,” he finds it commendable.

Well, Owens certainly did not fall short of words. He added that he has seen her grind up-front to get to this point, which amplifies his happiness. Plus, she is one of those who can proudly say they have a gold medal, which is something he has always wanted to celebrate with her.

Jonathan Owens is Simone Biles’ biggest cheerleader

Even when Owens was 6000 miles away from France, he had eyes on Biles’ every move at Paris through the live streams. But, when he landed in the house, he was spotted wearing a Simone Biles t-shirt in the stands of Bercy Arena. Taking special permission from his NFL training, he made sure to cheer his wife. The moment he saw her after winning, it was extremely special. “I was just so overjoyed to see her, hug her, and congratulate her,” he said.

As Biles won the all-around gold and surpassed Shannon Miller to become the most decorated American gymnast at the Olympics, Owens could not keep calm. Adding a picture of them, he wrote, “Witnessing history every time you step on the mat 😍🔥 Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful I was there to see it ❤️🤍💙”

But when duty called, Owens made it back to the training. However, that did not stop him for cheering on. Well, nothing stops him for being there for his wife. Even in the Netflix series “Simone Biles Rising” the gymnast sheds light on how he had been a pillar for her during her Tokyo struggles.
