Kotb then playfully asked Biles, “What about when the Packers play the Chiefs? I would like to see you and Taylor. I think that would be really cute,” hinting that Swift might once again be spotted in the stadium to see and support her boyfriend Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Biles responded with a laugh and excitement in her voice, saying, “I actually will be going to the game,” causing the hosts to squeal with joy. This update by Biles has sparked excitement among fans, not only at the chance of these two legends meeting again but also to see two long-lost friends reconnecting. But how did this friendship begin in the first place?
A connection that goes way back
It all started back in 2016 when Swift congratulated the “Final Five”? the gymnastics team that included Biles, on their gold medal win in the Rio Olympics via Twitter. Following this in 2017, Biles then shared a photo on Instagram, posing with the star herself, Taylor, her brother Ron Biles II, and her sister Adria Biles, and she wrote in her caption, “always a joy watching you perform, nice to finally meet you Taylor Swift.”?
Fast forward to 2021. Biles had to withdraw from several events at the Tokyo Olympics facing the “Twisties”. However, she returned to compete a few days later in the balance beam event, bagging a bronze. At the time, NBC had tributed Biles, featuring a voiceover by none other than Taylor Swift. With her?song “This Is Me Trying” playing in the background, Swift said about the Olympian, “Throughout the last week, her voice has been as significant as her talents, her honesty as beautiful as the perfection that had long been her signature. But don’t you see? It still is. She’s perfectly human. And that’s what makes it so easy to call her a hero.”
Biles then retweeted the post by NBC, writing, “I’m crying. How special. I love you Taylor Swift.” But it did not end there Swift responded in an even more heartfelt way, saying, “I cried watching YOU. I feel so lucky to have gotten to watch you all these years, but this week was a lesson in emotional intelligence and resilience. We all learned from you. Thank you.”

In her tribute video, Biles conveyed her love for Swift, saying, “I can’t tell you how much I love Taylor and her music. But Folklore is not the only incredible thing she did during this ongoing pandemic. She has shown immense grace and generosity to many of her fans in need, including me.”
