Jonathan Owens' Paris Olympics story—Is this the most bizarre experience you've heard from an athlete's spouse?

Do you think the Mona Lisa is overrated? It might seem so, but did you know it holds the record for the highest insurance valuation ever? Back in 1962, it was valued at $100 million, which is about $1 billion today! The Mona Lisa, with its famous smile, is definitely a jewel of the Musee du Louvre museum. In a quirky twist, Jonathan Owens, Simone Biles’ husband, recently shared his amusing experience of visiting the Louvre. His stories, filled with charming anecdotes, even managed to bring a smile to Biles’ face at the end.

Speaking of high achievements, Simone Biles became the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history with her gold medal in the team final. Jonathan Owens, who’s been rooting for her in Paris, was totally in awe of her accomplishments. Just before Biles’ individual final on August 1, Owens visited there, and most recently he shared his visit experience to the Louvre on David Kaplan’s YouTube channel in an episode titled “Intercepted with Kevin Byard & Jonathan Owens: TD vs. Titans, Wife Simone Biles & More! Episode 2.” Pretty interesting, right?

When Jonathan Owens was asked by a host about his Louvre visit, he shared a humorous and eye-opening story. He and Jasmine, a media team member from the Bears, arrived at the museum without realizing tickets were required. Owens recalled, “We didn’t know that you were supposed to have tickets, so we were literally in line. Bro, we were in line waiting. The line was, bro, so long.”

Determined not to miss out, Owens and Jasmine went to dinner, where a tour guide, despite being tired, offered to take them around the museum the next day. Owens was thrilled with the experience, saying, “Man, the tour guide was the way to go. He knew every painting, every picture.” He marveled at the museum’s grandeur and intricate details, noting, “Just looking at the picture, it almost looked like you could tell it’s fur, you know what I mean?”

He was also struck by the scale of the Louvre, reflecting, “They said one of the kings used to stay there, and I was walking around, seeing all the rooms, the fabrics they were using back then—800,000 feet. I think that’s what they said. That was his house. Ridiculous. 800,000 feet—800,000 square feet.” However, it didn’t end there!

When Jonathan Owens was asked if he thought the Mona Lisa was overrated, he shared an eye-opening experience. He described the long line and the crowd at the museum, noting that despite arriving early, it was still packed. Owens was surprised by the Mona Lisa’s small size, finding it much smaller than he had expected. However, he was captivated by its unique effect, explaining how the painting’s eyes seemed to follow him around the room.

As he put it, “When you walk around, like, they literally say her eyes follow you. It does, and that blew my mind. That messed me up. I’m like on the other side, just trying to figure it out. Yeah, I’m like, ‘Man, that Mona Lisa does look like it’s looking at me right now.’ Crazy day.” Despite the unexpected challenges, he made sure to make the most of his visit and ensure that the day was special for Simone Biles.

Owens shows proud support for Simone Biles, going the extra mile

Jonathan Owens was clearly having a blast celebrating his wife Simone Biles’ latest achievement. Last month, the Chicago Bears athlete shared a playful Instagram Story from the Louvre Museum, where he cleverly inserted a photo of Biles, captured in mid-air during the Olympics qualifiers, into a golden frame. Captioning the photo with, “Walked past some history in the Louvre today,” along with laughing and flame emojis, Owens added a humorous touch to their special moment.

Well, Simone Biles made history by earning her eighth medal in the women’s team final, solidifying her status as the most decorated U.S. Olympic gymnast of all time. Owens, who has been in Paris to cheer her on, proudly shared a photo of himself wearing a shirt featuring Biles’ name and face, alongside her gold medal.

In his post, he expressed his admiration, “Witnessing history every time you step on the mat 😍🔥 Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!!” Biles reciprocated the love, commenting, “My whole heart. I love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” showing her appreciation for his support. Owens even took time off from NFL training camp to be there for her, highlighting his dedication and pride and each other’s support system. Despite Biles being busy, it was clear that the couple had a fantastic time in Paris, with Owens making sure she felt special throughout their trip.
