Gymnastics teams are exerting significant efforts to maintain an impressive average score and secure a spot in the top 10 women’s teams. As the Road to National standings evolve, some teams are ascending, while others are not. In NCAA Gymnastics Week 5, LSU emerged as the powerful team, securing the top 3 spots in the team rankings. The Tigers delighted their supporters by scoring the season’s highest score 198.475 for LSU.

In the PMAC, LSU shined brightly with their record-setting performance over the Arkansas Razorbacks. With the victory on 9th February, LSU highlights its potential for a national championship, heading to the No. 3 spot in the week 5 national polls.

SEC Network took to its official IG handle @ secnetwork to highlight and cherish the team rankings. Posting the images of the team with the latest rankings, SEC Network captioned the post, “EVERY SINGLE SEC GYMNASTICS TEAM IS RANKED 😮‍💨”

The first image of the post showcased a collage of the team, where the LSU took the very first spot in the collage. The No. 5 NCCA gymnastic team, Kentucky, got the second spot in the rankings. According to the team rankings, No. 6 Florida and No. 7 Alabama were also featured in the recent post. While the NCAA gymnastics teams, Missouri, Arkansas, Auburn, and Georgia, got the No. 12, No. 13, No.14, and No. 19 ranks, respectively, in the Sec ranking list.

Securing the highest score, 198.475, in Week 5, LSU has been getting immense admiration from its fans. Setting another record, Louisiana State University’s gymnast Haleigh Bryant, clinched her 13th perfect 10 on the balance beam. With a perfect score of 9.9 in all other events, 2021 NCAA Champion, Haleigh also notched her 20 career all-around title.

However, it was not just about individual achievements for Bryant; it was team execution. After executing the stellar performance in the competition, Bryant said,  “I definitely don’t really think about the scores.” She also reflected on her record-setting score, “I really just came in, one skill at a time, one event at a time, one routine at a time, and really just try to focus on what I do, day in and day out at the gym. I know if I do that, I’m going to get the best score for this team,” she added. Nicknamed ‘gym slam,’ Bryant is the top all-around gymnast in the country.

The victory of the LSU Tigers over Arkansas has accelerated their overall averages. The team entered week 5 with impressive scores:49.540 on the floor, 49.395 on the vault, 49.170 on the beam, and 49.485 on the bars. LSU holds top-15 rankings across all four events. The LSU gymnasts have secured placements in the top five for vault (2), bars (3), and floor (1).

LSU gymnasts are maintaining an upward trajectory with their phenomenal performance. This past weekend, fifth-year senior Kiya Johnson also got the perfect ranking among the top 20 gymnasts in the country. By securing four 9.900+ scores against the Razorbacks on beam and floor, Johnson demonstrated her continued consistency as a stellar performer for the Tigers. She is ranked No. 5 on the floor and No. 25 on the bars individually.

Konnor McClain also impressively earned two near-perfect scores of 9.975 on both beam and floor. With their arsenal of talent, the LSU Tigers are striving to keep their momentum as they proceed ahead.
