The no. 4 Utah women’s Gymnastics team continues to dominate the NCAA season 2024. After cracking the 198 barrier against the Stanford gymnastics team in Utah program history on February, 23, the Red Rocks again performed splendidly and upgraded its NQS score, aiming to boost the ranking. However, in the meet against the No. 3 California Golden Bears squad, they could not achieve the win in Berkley.
But expectations from the Red Rocks have not receded. In the last eight meets, the no. 4 Red Rocks gymnasts executed their best skills and impressively clinched triumphs. Improving the score in every meet this season, Utah gymnasts have now raised the expectations of the fans regarding its improvement in the NQS ranking.
The Red Rocks boost their NQS rankings

Despite defeat against the No. 3 Cal, Red Rocks gymnasts gained the fan’s attention with their spectacular performance on the vault, beam, floor, and bars. The Utah University gymnastics team also took to their official Instagram handle to cherish the astounding performance by mentioning the score in the IG story, “Final score Cal-198.100, UU-197.700.”
In the meet against Cal Golden Bears, the Red Rocks posted a 49.300 score on vault, and 49.425 on the beam. Additionally, Utah gymnasts showcased their gymnastics prowess with their remarkable score on the floor against Cal, as they scored 49.525 points on the floor. Apart from that, they recorded a notable score on bars with 49.400.
Despite their best efforts, Utah could not defeat Cal, falling short by a score of 197.700, while Cal Golden Bears posted a 198.100 score, although Utah gymnasts managed to raise their total NQS. Now, the Red Rocks gymnasts have kept their eyes set on the NQS ranking, emerging as the most formidable team this season. It is also backed by their performance in recent times.

The ambitious pursuit of Red Rocks to be the best
When Utah competed against three of the top 10 programs in the country, Oklahoma, LSU, and UCLA, in a quad meet a month and a half ago, it was the last time it had not finished higher than its opponent. That afternoon, the Red Rocks came in fourth place, and since then, the Utah gymnastics team’s scores have been rising. On that occasion, the words of Utah coach Carly Dockendorf highlightes the team’s confidence.

“This is what we train for is to compete against the best,” Dockendorf said regarding competing against California. Although they did not secure victory, they posed a tough challenge. Next, they are headed to Tuscan, for a matchup against Arizona Wildcats this March 8. It remains to be seen if the team can continue with the momentum of bettering their scores with each passing meet.
