It was yet another victorious day on NCAA Gymnastics mats for LSU Tigers as feats poured in numbers for the gymnasts. Having a seasoned roster of Olympic hopefuls, a no.1 ranked gymnast, and multiple All-American title holders, the Tigers have reigned dominance on almost every apparatus. The presentation and backing of the positions rightly arrived as the team recorded its 8th victory of the season against Alabama.

The LSU Tigers posted their third-best score in program history going 198.325-197.325 in the battle against Alabama Tides. The dominant clash brought along impressive numbers and feats in NCAA Gymnastics for the well-celebrated roster.

New NCAA Gymnastics numbers for LSU

One of the first milestones the LSU Tigers vs Alabama Tides meet yielded was Haleigh Bryant’s excellence on the floor. The senior put up a perfect 10 on the floor, which marked her career 14th across all apparatus and 3rd on the floor. Proud and elated about the result, Head Coach Jay Clark sang praises for the 22-year-old. “I never get tired of watching her,” Clark said. “It’s remarkable. She’s amazing.” Bryant, currently ranked No. 1 in the nation on the floor presented why she has held the position.

Following along Haleigh Bryant next was KJ Johnson, who scored a career-high 9.975 on the floor. Further along, junior Tori Tatum posted a 9.95 on the uneven bars which marked her career. Ashley Cowan, a sophomore, followed suit when she a 9.925 for her feat. A spectacle next presented by Kiya Johnson and Konnor McClain for a pair of 9.90s topped off the Tigers’ lead on the floor, bars, and the vault. While the Tigers celebrated individual brilliance led by Haleigh Bryant on all apparatus, the program watched a continued dominance for the persisting NCAA gymnastics season.

The tigers look good on the path to post-season

The LSU Tigers’ 198.325 was the 2024 NCAA gymnastics season’s fourth 198+. The score further helped the team improve their NQS from 197.845 to 197.885; their SEC-best average. The numbers become essential as they aim a seeding for NCAA regionals. “I’m just proud of them. We were solid all the way through,” coach Clark says. Currently standing 2nd in the overall standings, the team’s aim will be to maintain or improve the NQS and remain in the top 4 by post-season.

“Tonight certainly helped our confidence… But I don’t think we’re done. We want to stay in the top four and at the top for the SEC Championships,” HC remarks. To abide by, the Tigers will next head to Raising Cane’s River Center for a podium challenge and more numbers for the NCAA gymnastics season ahead.
