English artistic gymnast Alice Kinsella is a 2020 Tokyo Olympics Bronze medalist. The 23-year-old is recently making news for her devastating injury. Though her fate for the 2024 Paris Olympics remains undecided, the injury of the gymnastics star, as per the recent update, looked quite tremendous to pause her gymnastics career for a while.

A 5x European Championships medalist, Alice Kinsella, has been an essential contributor to the British Olympic team, and it is hoped she gets ready for her routine before the European Championships in April. The defending champion pulled off from the British Gymnastics Championship lately, considering it as a precaution to her injury.

The post on Reddit elaborated on how Alice Kinsella’s right (arm) elbow looked massively swollen and that her leotard sleeve had been cut off. It further added, “This looks to me like a fracture/dislocation of the elbow which is likely to be a season-ending injury except possibly a beam routine with one-handed Acro elements.” Devastated at the news of her dislocated elbow, the Reddit writer hopes they are proven wrong in their thesis because they are rooting for her.

However, an Instagram post referring to the Senior British Championship post of the Park Wrekin Gymnastics Club, where Kinsella trains, talked along similar lines about the injury that the gymnastics star has undergone.

It read, “Unfortunately, Alice wasn’t able to defend the title she won last year due to injuring her elbow in the warm-up. On the advice of the doctor, Alice withdrew from the competition. However, she stayed to support her teammates.” Amid this injury setback, there was a piece of good news for Alice Kinsella. She was conferred with the ‘Gymnast of the Year’ award. Her coach, Brett, was also named British Gymnastics “Coach of the Year.” Kinsella’s fresh accolade once again reiterates her role in repeatedly bringing honor to her country.

A driving force for the British gymnastics team

British Gymnastics’ official X account announced her withdrawal on March 16 as well. The British artistic gymnast hopes to recover soon and replicate her magnificent swings on uneven bars, just as she did in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, with a final rotation scoring of 14.166. This helped the British squad secure a bronze – the women’s team’s first podium since 1928. She was also instrumental in Britain securing a quota for the Paris Olympics.

In the 2022 World Championships in Liverpool, Kinsella bounced back tremendously to earn a silver for the British team. She faced a fall during a penultimate rotation on the beam. But came back stronger during the floor routine. The team silver also ensured the quota for the Paris Olympics in 2024. Back then, she had quoted to Shropshire Star, “It feels so surreal. We’re absolutely speechless, but honestly, I couldn’t be more proud of this team.” Here’s to hoping she will recover soon to bring more pride to her country.
