In April 2024, ahead of the Paris Olympics, Simone Biles broke the hearts of her hometown Astros fans. The longtime Houston Astros fans and guest of honor donned the colors of their MLB rivals, the Chicago Bears. However, the eleven-time Olympic medalist will once again don the jersey of the Houston team on Friday, just as she has done several times in the past.
Mark Berman, the former Sports Director at Fox 26, posted about the upcoming match between the Houston Astros and the Kansas City Royals at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas, on Friday, August 30th. “From the Astros: Will celebrate and honor the Houston Olympians that competed in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics on Friday before the game against the Royals,” he wrote. And who better to represent the Houston Olympians than the GOAT herself?
“The highlight of that celebration is seven-time gold medalist gymnast @Simone_Biles will throw out a ceremonial 1st pitch,” Berman revealed in his post on X. This is not the eleven-time Olympic medalist’s first rodeo when it comes to throwing the first pitch for her favorite MLB team. The 3x gold medalist at Paris has done it several times since winning four golds in Rio.

In July 2016, the Houston native wowed the crowd at Minute Maid Park when she threw her first-ever first pitch. The thirty-time World Champion medalist even added her unique twist by doing a flip right before throwing a ball. That move became her signature every time she threw a ceremonial pitch before an Astros game. But wait. There’s more!
In 2019, Simone Biles made a 40,000-strong crowd rise to their feet before Game 2 of the World Series. Donning a bright orange shirt with the Astros emblem, Simone Biles did yet another flip before trying the first pitch. However, the last time the 27-year-old threw the ball ahead of the 2022 World Series was a truly special one.
The team from Houston, Texas, defeated the Philadelphia Phillies to clinch the title. This year promises to be special too, but more so because it will be a celebration of the world’s most decorated gymnast. After a lackluster performance at Tokyo 2020, Biles looked for redemption in Paris. To say that she succeeded would be an understatement.
The triumphant Olympian walked away with three golds and a silver, including gold in the individual and team all-around. However, now the gymnast is basking in her glory as she prepares to embark on a special tour in September.
Simone Biles is taking it easy ahead of her upcoming tour
Those who watched the play-by-play of Paris 2024 would know that the defending world champion hurt her ankles during a balance beam warmup. The injury didn’t stop the Olympian from earning her gold medal-winning redemption. However, now the gymnastics legend is finally resting and letting her leg heal before going back to practice for Gold over America.
