A little boy from Hull has proved the age-old saying, “where there is a will, there is a way.” Even though losing a leg in a motorbike accident, 12-year-old Max Clark has become a shining example of perseverance. Overcoming the hurdles like the champion he is, the young boy has now reached the semi-finals of a national gymnastics contest.

The life of nine-year-old Clark came to an abrupt halt when he was hit by a motorbike while playing in the field. As the unfortunate incident took away his leg, life looked uncertain for the little man. However, regardless of the situation, his spirits were too high to be crushed. Stepping back into the field a year later, Clark again persuaded his gymnastics dreams.

Working hard each day for a bigger dream, he remarked how initially, days were hard but, with time, got better. Talking about his success , as reported by BBC, the young boy said,?”It’s like my life, basically. I’ve done it all my life, it’s just so fun, and I like doing new tricks and stuff.”?

Pursuing his dreams unhindered, Clark, as his coach Paul Smith remarks, is doing “fantastic.” Paul is Clark’s coach at his gymnastics club. Showering praise over the little boy, he said, “The last competition we went to, which was the first round of the schools, a few of the coaches there from other clubs came up to me and were so complimentary.” But when did it all begin?

Clark’s injuries were severe. But with the help of his prosthetic limb, he is back to his trampolining and winning streak. Clark has been pursuing gymnastics since he was a four-year-old. Thus, since a young age, he had put in a lot of effort. He was never away from the sport, except for five months when he was recovering from the unfortunate incident.

His progress over the years has been phenomenal. He is now in line to represent his country and is expected to compete in National events. His friends at the gym also greatly helped Clark feel “like the accident never happened.” Jerome Cawkwell, the man responsible for the accident, had been sentenced to three years imprisonment after he admitted to overspeeding. For young Clark, there is so much to look up to in the forthcoming years!
