Gabby Douglas is looking strong as ever, despite taking a serious tumble! Well, returning to the top-tier cut-throat gymnastics realm after eight long years is not easy. However, for the 2012 all-around Olympic gold medalist, things pan out a tad bit differently. Being away from the sport, Douglas got her inner spark reignited when she set her eyes on the 2022 Championships.

And going by the looks of it, Douglas does not seem to be shying away from trying different things. In order to get on level terms with her competitors, Gabby Douglas was spotted trying an entirely new floor routine. However, as she could not pull it off perfectly, fans were quick to take note and criticize the Olympian.

Something new is cooking with Gabby Douglas

In a YouTube video uploaded by Gymnastics Masterclass, several athletes were spotted perfecting their skills in the training camp. The very first among them was that of Gabby Douglas. Her movements on the video looked different, and it was clear that she was trying out a brand new floor pass. Upon further scrutiny, the routine was revealed to be a front layout step out with a full twist. Such a routine was connected indirectly to a full-in, which was worth a couple of points. 

Unfortunately, while Douglas seemed to be in control for the majority of the routine, the landing got her in trouble. While landing from her flip, the 28-year-old took a bad tumble and had to use her partners to prevent a fall. The recent video should come as a relief to her fans who were concerned after Anna Liukin stated that Douglas had left WOGA back in February. 

While Douglas missed out on the Winter Cup, she also got her fans worried a few days back. Douglas posted an Instagram update of her gym sessions. But in one of the pictures, the 3x Olympic gold medalist had cut marks on her hands that quickly became the talk of the town. Unfortunately, now that she is back with a new training video, even then Douglas’ fans are unimpressed.

Here’s a look at some of them. One of the YouTube users sharing a personal opinion commented, “Thus, with new additions to her arsenal Gabby Douglas looks more ready than ever to take the Olympics by storm.” While another fan speculated about a tough competition on the gymnastics mat in the Olympics and commented, “I don’t think Simone is going to win so easily at the upcoming Olympics.” 

Sharing a personal opinion a user wrote, “Gabby’s floor pass is the training update I’ve been least excited about.” “Gabby’s pass looks like shit. She needed TWO spotters”, added another YouTube user. Another Gymnastics enthusiast commented, “Gabby looks more powerful than before”. Thus, with mixed reactions coming her way, it remains to be seen how well Gabby Douglas shapes up leading to Paris.
