The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has designed an updated scoring system for the women’s and men’s artistic gymnastics. Once upon a time, the perfect score of 10 was an unattainable feat. There have also been instances when very few contestants received the said score. However, in recent times, the gymnastics world has seen a drastic rise in the number of contestants receiving the perfect 10. This change in frequency hasn’t gone unnoticed by the netizens.

A recent viral video sparked the debate that has been overdue for some time now. The viral video featured a performance that was good but perfect. Despite its visible flaws, the routine was allotted a perfect 10 and viewers are now questioning the leniency in the scoring system.
