While training for the U.S. Classic event, Carey was struggling with her Maloney half on the uneven bars. Due to this, she only participated in the balance beam discipline and managed a score of 13.00 as compared to Simone Biles’ winning score of 14.80. Now, Carey is looking to return to winning ways, as she wants to get back on the mats and prove to herself that she can win it. She wants to showcase to the world that she can do more than just vault and floor. In fact, she believes that she can compete in any discipline. Carey admits that as she grew older, it has increasingly become more difficult to prepare and adapt quickly for competitions.
She finds it frustrating to not be able to get back to her peak condition through training with the snap of a finger. The Olympic champion also highlighted that the past month was difficult for her to endure. She had problems with getting the final routines right, and this was a struggle for the Olympic champion. According to an Olympics report, Carey said, ?I think I?ve been putting a lot of pressure on myself to be able to just do it and missed that step of taking it back, really figuring out what I need to think and what I need to do, more relying on my technique than just getting frustrated.”?As she prepares for the U.S. Championships, Carey opens up on her approach towards the upcoming games.
