As the Paris 2024 games loom in the near sight, the athletic realms have picked up a fast pace to lead their best to the coveted stage. The process of which has been a time of reminiscing for numerous owing to the joyous celebrations of dreams. And as the US gymnastics Olympics trials near the brink, the claim stands true for Jordan Chiles’ mom led on by the team.

Jordan Chiles’ mom Gina has been visibly the gymnast’s biggest supporter. Right from her NCAA perfect 10s to her flag-bearing moment at the 2023 Pan Am games, Gina Chiles has celebrated every mile. Today, as the Paris Olympics near, Gina couldn’t help but reflect on the brightest day of Jordan’s career.

Jordan Chiles’ mom joins in on the happy moments

Gina Chiles recently took to her Instagram stories to share a note, reminiscing back on the 2020 Tokyo trials. Gina shared a post by USA Gymnastics, presenting a culmination of all the recent trials. One carousel of happiness included Jordan lying on the floor in joy as confetti surrounded her. “This was the best day,” Gina wrote over the post. “Watching Jordan fulfill a lifelong dream still brings tears to my eyes,” she further added.

In June 2020, Jordan Chiles participated alongside renowned gymnastics names to try her hand at the Tokyo Olympic trials. Finishing third behind Simone Biles and Suni Lee, Chiles etched her name on the Tokyo roster as a breakout star. She then scored 14.666 on vault, 14.166 on bars, 13.433 on beam, and 11.700 on floor to help secure team Olympic silver. Having tasted the triumph, the 22-year-old now has eyes set on the 2024 Paris games.

A path easier from past

The path to the Tokyo Olympics was definitely a gleaming moment for Jordan Chiles. It was, however, not an easy one. The Olympian reveals she had drained herself to the brink trying to triumph at the trials. The experience has made her path to Paris much clearer and easier she hints. “I don’t think I would ever do [again], ‘Okay, I did it in ’21, it should be an easier way for ’24,” she tells Olympics.com.

Today owning an elevated presence as a Pan Am flag bearer and a gold medalist, Jordan Chiles feels optimistic added on by her determined training. Though the trials in June will call for the 22-year-old to lock horns against 3 previous Olympic all-around champions, with a determined mindset and sharpened skills, Jordan Chiles only hopes for a yielding result. If the results end up otherwise, the 22-year-old expresses she can say, “I did everything I could.”
