“I didn’t want to be afraid of the sport anymore,” shared Simone Biles in the first season of her docuseries, reflecting on her comeback to gymnastics. After having to withdraw from the Tokyo Olympics due to mental health challenges, the 11x Olympic medalist was determined to reclaim her spot on the podium at the Paris Olympics and prove she’s still the GOAT and in a league of her own. Adding four more Olympic medals to her name in the French capital, it’s safe to say she nailed that goal!

Her journey to this third Olympic run is set to be captured in detail in the second season of her Netflix special Simone Biles Rising. Directed by Katie Walsh, who had exclusive access to all the pivotal moments, this season is shaping up to be another hit, just like the first, which was nominated for an Emmy. Fans were buzzing with excitement as the highly anticipated show finally premiered in Los Angeles this week.
Taking a breather from her Gold Over America tour, Simone Biles lit up the premiere of her documentary, though her husband Jonathan Owens was notably absent. But no worries—she had her parents, Ronald and Nellie, her sister Adria, and a close-knit group of friends by her side. The evening was all about celebrating her incredible journey to the Paris Olympics, and Simone was more than ready to own it. And own it she did!
Dressed in a stunning black chiffon gown with a corset top adorned with vibrant, tropical hand-embroidered beaded florals, designed by none other than Galia Lahav (the same designer behind her wedding dress), Simone was a vision. With a price tag of a whopping $4,500, she definitely turned heads—and let’s be real, she carried that dress like a true champion!

Fun fact: This was not the first time Simone Biles had entrusted Galia Lahav to design a dress for a very important day in her career and life: her wedding. Before the big day, Simone gave Vogue a behind-the-scenes look at her final dress fitting with designer Galia Lahav. Head designer Sharon Sever brought her dream dress to life, and Biles looked absolutely stunning in the sneak peeks. In fact the designers had designed every single look Simone presented during that auspicious day. She even said, “When I started dress shopping, I was like, ‘If I get married, it has to be a Galia Lahav.'”
Her main gown included the one she wore during her ceremony. When the gymnast walked down the aisle with her father, she wore a ballgown silhouette custom-made for her. Along with a corset, it had a skirt with floral detail and a slit up the leg. It seems like the gymnast really appreciated their work at that time, which is why she gave them another chance. There’s no doubt that Galia Lahav’s clothes aren’t great either, as Simone Biles looked stunning in all her wedding photos.
How Galia Lahav made Simone Biles look gorgeous during her wedding
When Simone Biles tied the knot with Jonathan Owens on April 21st, she knew that she had to choose the right designers for the day. Thus, she ended up choosing Galia Lahav, who designed not one but four different looks for the Olympic gold medalist. All the festivities started in the evening before wedding day and Simone knew she had to stun everyone from the very first event.
So she wore a white minidress sparkled with embellishments and topped it up with court shoes. She then walked down the aisle the next day wearing the ball gown silhouette. This dress got the most attention, as it was the one that was seen most in her social media posts. But the last two dresses weren’t anything less. When the time came for reception, Simone Biles was clothed in a gorgeous mermaid gown with floral applique.

Finally, as the wedding dance approached, the gymnast wore a long dress, which was a customized version of their A-line designs. As all of these clothes were tremendous, there was no doubt that they certainly helped raise the mood of the wedding. Simone Biles had a great working relationship with the designer Galia Lahav too.
They later thanked her, saying, “Working with Simone on her magical day has been absolutely incredible and we are so grateful for the trust she has put into us to make her wedding day as special as it was.” They also shared how much they adored her and wished her all the best in her marriage. After such a positive experience in the past, it’s clear why Simone Biles fully trusted the brand, giving them the green light to design her stunning dress for the premiere.
