Jade Carey has been dominating the floor since her senior debut in 2017. The reigning floor exercise Olympic Champion has continued to captivate audiences with her stellar performances. Carey had an illustrious journey. In her first year as an elite gymnast, she clinched 2 silver medals at the World Championships. Now, with a total of 7 World Championship medals, the gymnastic star has set her sights on the French Capital.

Due to a terrible season last year, Carey has adapted to a new plan for this season. She initially intended to compete only on the balance beams and uneven bars. But as the season went by, she decided to go back to competing in all four events. She expressed how this was a step in the right direction for her, “not letting last year define that for me.” The gymnastics icon has paved her path for herself, but this has left many wondering:

The NCAA Championships silver medalist has a net worth of around $1 million in 2024. Post her return from the Tokyo Olympics, she had to make a difficult decision. Many Olympians avoided collegiate gymnastics because they couldn’t compete and take on endorsement deals. They had to pick either of those options. However, Carey got to do both.

Her earnings come from her gymnastic performances, but she also gets her pennies from public appearances, sponsorships, and endorsement deals. Being an Olympic gymnast worked in Carey’s favor. This helped her build a prominent status in the sport and helped her grab lucrative deals and associate her name with top brands like Reebok, Amazon Fashion, Albertsons, OZONE Leotards, and more.

The gymnastic star’s biggest achievements

Carey went from being an unknown gymnast to a World Championship silver medalist overnight. She went on to clinch a gold in the vault at the 2020 World Cup in Melbourne. This catapulted her directly to the Summer Games. Her biggest achievement was at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Many believed she would find her way to the podium, and Carey made it happen. She clinched a gold in the floor exercise despite a disappointing vault the day before. In doing so, she denied Vanessa Ferrari her first Olympic gold

But the Olympics were certainly not the last time she would turn heads. She went on to win gold on vault and a bronze on floor exercises at the 2022 World Championships in Liverpool. While she was stunning fans on the world stage, Carey has also done just as well in collegiate gymnastics. As a student of Oregon State University, Carey became the 13th NCAA gymnast to complete a Gym Slam.

Her performance on vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercises earned her a perfect 10 in each event. Carey’s contributions to the team haven’t stayed unrecognized. She even won Pac-12 Gymnast of the year in both 2022 and 2023. She also was an individual all-around qualifier in Oregon State’s NCAA Championships. She also has a Level 10 Code of points skill named after her: the tucked Kasamatsu full-on vault. It is now named The Carey.

When asked about her plans for 2024, she stated she wants to pay attention to her college career. But she has been taking a different approach for this Olympic season. She will be focusing on pushing her boundaries and honing her skills as an elite athlete. Carey clinched a gold in all-around at the American Classic at the start of the season.

She then clinched gold on vault at the Core Hydration Classic and secured the 4th position in the all-around behind veterans like Simone Biles, Shilese Jones, and Jordan Chiles. She clinched a bronze at the National Championships, securing the seventh position in the all-around, and is now going to focus on the U.S. Olympics Trials. Carey has consistently proven she is one of the nation’s best right from her early days of training.

With the 2024 Paris Olympics approaching, many will be anticipating how she fares on the grand stage. Regardless of what her fate will be in the French capital, one thing’s for certain: Jade Carey has etched her name as one of the gymnastics greats. Will she continue to add to her legacy? Only time will tell.
