Life seldom pans out as you want it to. Instead, unprecedented situations are never too far away, almost as if to test your determination and conviction on your goals. While Olivia Dunne was hoping to make her final collegiate year a grand celebration before riding into the sunset, it looks like her desires will have to meander around a few hurdles along the way.
In the last NCAA season, the LSU Tigers clinched their first-ever national title in program history. Alongside stars like Haleigh Bryant, Savannah Schoener, and Aleah Finnegan, Livvy Dunne played a pivotal role in the team’s triumph. Naturally, Livvy was eager to defend the trophy in her final year at Baton Rouge, but a new setback threatens to derail the LSU queen’s glorious run.
Dunne took to TikTok on November 25 to share details about her current condition. In her latest social media update, the gymnast champ revealed how fate is trying its best to disrupt her dreams of leaving college still as the NCAA champ. “The devil couldn’t reach me,” she wrote in her TikTok upload subsequently notifying the fans that a shin injury could halt her gymnastics functionality for some time.

In her TikTok video, Dunne explains that shin splints can occur when an athlete places excessive stress on their shin bones. Intense or prolonged training can also lead to this injury. Livvy’s facial expressions reveal her fatigue, as she appears to be taking the situation in stride rather than fighting against the pain. Thankfully, she has a strong support system to help her navigate this challenging period.
Olivia’s MLB star boyfriend Paul Skenes is never too far away when she needs him. The Pittsburgh pitcher was also present at Dunne’s practice session from a couple of days ago. Considering how the LSU gymnast suffered her latest injury, it can be surmised that Skenes was probably there when it happened, and we can say safely that Paul will make sure to take care of his bae so that Dunne can make her final year a memorable one. Whatever it may be, Livvy needs to pull up her socks and fast, if she wants to make this last chance count.

During her time at LSU, Dunne has become one of the most popular collegiate stars in the USA. With that, she’s also racked up a ton of followers on social media, which has also prompted her to make the most of the NCAA’s NIL (name, image, and likeliness) regulations. Olivia currently ranks second in NIL valuations and is only second to Colorado Buffaloes’ Shedeur Sanders. If the Tigers star does not overcome her injury setback soon, her NIL valuation is also likely to take a hit.

However, the injury might also have its perks. With her hectic schedule, Dunne often struggles to find time to spend with her boyfriend. With Skenes recently being named the Rookie of The Year, Livvy could use the opportunity to execute her cheering duties for some time before getting her gymnastics leotard on.
