Jordan Chiles was one of Team USA’s shining lights at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago. Chiles helped Team USA clinch the gold in the women’s gymnastics all-around ahead of fancied Brazil. She was the star of the show then. Later, she added a medal in each of the remaining two colors in the individual category events. An unfortunate incident occurred en route to those achievements, sadly.

Jordan Chiles fell while attempting a piked Jaeger on the uneven bars. She sustained significant injury. Though she got back to her feet and finished her routine, she could not figure out why she fell. The updates from her camp added to the fans’ concerns. In what is a reassuring gesture, Chiles took to social media once more.

In an Instagram post, Jordan Chiles shared three images. In the background of each image was a dark, storm cloud-filled sky with a lightning flash. She appeared in a black outfit complete with knee-high boots and a cape. Chiles also had long grey hair, with her eyebrows the same color. She captioned the post with the words, “Few can weather the storm,” and added two emojis. One was a tornado twister and the other a lightning bolt.

There is no mistaking the character as whom she dressed up. Jordan Chiles pulled on her Storm costume. Storm, or Ororo Munroe, is a member of the fictional X-Men universe. Created by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum, she was brought to life in the X-Men movie franchise by Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp. Her most notable ability is atmokinesis. She can fly, control weather patterns, and is easily one of the most powerful mutants in that universe. Incidentally, Chiles’ choice of caption was very much poetic. She will find herself in the eye of a different storm. One important decision faces the 22-year-old gymnast.
