Gabby Douglas is getting teary-eyed because of her young fans! With her Olympics training in full swing, the American gymnast is receiving lovely surprises from her young supporters these days. One such incident came to the forefront as Douglas shared the heartfelt moment on her social media. Well, such sweet gestures should not come as a surprise for Douglas after whatever she has achieved in the realm of gymnastics. 

After all, becoming the very first Afro-American female athlete to clinch an Olympic gold is no mean feat. Looking to make a commendable comeback this year after missing in action since 2016, sweet fan gestures are surely the right thing to lift the spirits of the 28-year-old Olympian. 

Gabby Douglas reacts after young fan shares heartwarming video

Gabby Douglas was pleasantly surprised after stumbling upon a young fan ‘teaching’ the internet about Gabby Douglas. Sharing the clip on her Instagram story, Douglas wrote, “I’m crying 😭 tysm 🥹” In the short video, a young boy can be seen holding up a chart containing several bits of information about Douglas.

The information ranged from mentioning her birthday, i.e., December 31 1995, to the historic fact that Douglas was the first woman of color in any nationality to win an Olympic gold. The little admirer of the 28-year-old also pointed out in his ‘presentation’ that Virginia was Douglas’ birthplace and that she won 3 Olympic golds. Looking at such inspirational gestures, Douglas would now surely be motivated to push even harder for her third Olympic return.

The gymnast has not officially revealed her path to the Olympics yet, however, she is expected to appear at the US National Training camps ahead of the games. It is expected that the gymnast would make her official return to the mat soon, alongside Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee. With the expectations of the fans rising, this was not the first time Gabby Douglas received a cool gift from a young fan. 

Gabby Douglas receives a Black History Month gift 

The Black History Month was celebrated from February 1 to March 1 2024. While the world bowed down in respect to the athletes of color, Gabby Douglas received a special gift. A young fan put in efforts to transform a barbie into a replica of Douglas. The replica was seen performing a split inside a Nike shoe box. The box resembled a gymnasium as it was decorated with several pieces of equipment including uneven and parallel bars. 

Douglas, seemingly happy, shared the gesture on her Instagram story and captioned it, “i’m extremely honored 🥹🖤ty. i love you”. Thus, with fans’ support behind Douglas, it will be interesting to see whether the iconic gymnast can replicate her 2012 & 2016 success this time around as well.
