Simone Biles took home another title on Saturday, May 18, at the 2024 Core Hydration Gymnastics Classic at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Since the four-time Olympic gold medalist made her long-awaited return last year after withdrawing from many final events at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, all eyes were on her as she made her 2024 campaign debut. The tumultuous time is like water under the bridge now that Biles has made her first stride toward redemption.

Biles’s husband Jonathan Owens along with her mother Nellie Biles were present to witness the 2016 all-around champion perform her statement-making eponymous skills. While celebrating her victory with the Chicago Bears player and her mother, Biles’s younger sister Adria was overjoyed at home.

Simone Biles won the all-around gold with a score of 59.500 after making her dominant mark on the floor exercise and vault routines. After her flawless vault landing, the four-time Olympic gold medalist executed her fifth named move, called the Biles II, which prompted her husband Owens to get up from his seat and shout, Let’s go!

Simone’s baby sister, Adria Biles, a former competitive gymnast herself was ecstatic to see the results on TV and shared an Instagram story with the caption, “ILL THROW UP RIGHT NOW.” In the following Instagram story, Adria also shared the complete gymnasts’ roster with the event scoreboard led by Biles and added a gif that said, “Periodt…”

Biles shines with stellar performances and strong support at the latest competition

Simone Biles’s average score in each routine was consistently above 14.55. Her vault and floor scores were among her highest, including a 15.600 for the triple-twisting double back tuck in the vault. She performed exceptionally well on the vault, earning a 9.2 execution score and a 6.4 difficulty score. She had scores of 6.3 and 8.25 on the beam and 6.2 and 8.35 on the bars.

She concluded her day with a floor performance in which she performed a triple-twisting double salto on the floor for the first time since the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Since it was one of the rare occasions that Jonathan Owens made an appearance in a live gymnastics competition, Simone could not have been happier to have Jonathan by her side.I think this one was huge, said Biles, when asked about his appearance.

As an NFL player, Owens is used to witnessing the boisterous shouts, but on this particular visit, “to hear those girls scream as loud as the fans in the football field stood out to Simone. A similar appreciation came from Nellie Biles who posted a picture of Simone’s result on Instagram accompanied with the caption, SOOO Proud of you Simone.Despite not being the small tribe on the venue cheering on Biles, Adria remains an ardent ally for her big sister.
