Miller’s interest in gymnastics began at the age of five, raised in Edmond, Oklahoma. Her initial interest in the sport, had nothing to do with the Olympics or any prior experience in gymnastics. Instead, it was a desire to be like her older sister, Tessa, that piqued her interest. Miller’s journey into the world of flips and tumbles began, without any knowledge of her parents, who had no clue about gymnastics or the Olympic Games. With impromptu acrobatics on furniture and a second-hand trampoline purchased for safety reasons, Miller began her epic journey of becoming a world-renowned athlete.

“I had never seen the Olympics or gymnastics, but I had a sister who I admired tremendously,” Miller fondly recalled during her interview with USA Today. “My parents just wanted us to channel our energy into a safer environment, so they enrolled us in a recreational gymnastics program. From the moment I set foot in the gym, I fell in love with the sport and never wanted to stop.” Her parent enrolled her in formal training. Miller demonstrated exceptional focus throughout her gymnastics career, particularly on the balance beam, where precision and concentration are critical.
