At the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2023, the world witnessed amazing feats by the talented gymnasts. With accolades and trillions of praises for the women, the men outshined this time. While Japan is leading the scoreboard, team USA just trailed behind China with a team bronze. Having said that, the young gymnasts of the USA’s six-member roster won more hearts besides their terrific routines. And the joy of their achievements was increased manifold with the presence of their families among the spectators.

19-year-old Michigan-groomed Fred Richard captivated every fan’s attention with his performance. While Richard won hearts on the mat, his dad, cheering from the bleachers, did so with his adorable response in an interview post-event.

The star dad awes the world of gymnastics

Inside Gymnastics took to their ‘X’ handle to post an adorable interview response of Fred’s father. The 19-year-old may have won the 2021 and 2022 Junior Pan American Games, but everything boils down to him being a father’s son. Fred’s dad was asked, “On a scale of 1 to 10, how proud are you right now?” To this, the gentleman replied, “15”. The adorable line spoke for itself, and the netizens could feel the love hitting their faces. The original post read, “Interviewing the USA Dads in the stands right now”, with a heart-eyed emoji at the tail.

On the first day of men’s qualification, Fred faced difficulties in landing his pommel routine. Not only that, the 19-year-old’s Olympic dreams looked far-fetched after the display. Though the US men clinched the second place, they had to be their best on the team’s final day.

In the qualification round, Fred received only applause from the netizens for his phenomenal displays. Leaving Richard-verse in awe, the Michigan University collegiate led his team to glory.

Fred’s magnificence on the qualification day

Fred Richard, the top-tier artistic gymnast, has established himself for his exceptional gymnastic abilities. In addition, he furthered his case in the artistic competition. However, the US team’s first game has had its ups and downs, minor struggles while exhibiting. Though Fred struggled at the high bar, his outstanding performance on the floor demonstrated to the world what the US team is capable of. In a video posted by The Gymnastics Now, he displays the height of natural performance on the floors. His lightning-quick double-backs had everyone left everyone amazed. Moreover, he began with a stuck 2.5 twisting double back, followed by a front double full to full, and added exquisite flairs to each. Initially earning 14.500, his scores were up to 14.600 later. Completing his stellar routine like butter, he clinched the second position on the floor.

As all the gymnastic greats achieve a bigger milestone, the women’s team’s final plans are afoot. On October 4, people are rooting for the US women to shine in their bedazzled leotards. The event concludes on October 8, Sunday.
