Taking to her Instagram recently, Jordan Chiles posted a story that has been the focal point of many discussions ever since. Identical to one of Beyonce’s vibrant looks, she revealed two upcoming leotard designs that are altered versions of the leotard Beyonce wore at the Renaissance World Tour. Y’all ain’t ready!!! typed the gymnast as she hinted at her forthcoming fashion switch. This has generated a massive buzz. You must be wondering what all Jordan chose to sport from Beyonce’s look. For Xfinity Championships, Jordan shared two looks for two days in the event. Let us take a look.

For day 1, she chose the leotard version of a colorful outfit from Beyonce’s Renaissance Tour appearance. Beyonce’s original bodysuit was by Pucci, known for their statement prints. Therefore the outfit had a heavy interplay of colors which Jordan chose to incorporate into her leotard. Beyonce’s look featured the Italian brand’s archival “Giardino” print and crystal embellishments and a sparkling body chain. All these have been mindfully used in Jordan’s Leotard, keeping gymnastic flexibility in mind. The day 2 look is also no less interesting.

For her day-2 look, Jordan has drawn inspiration from the custom-made Bronx and Banco outfit of Beyonce. The outfit was made by Australian designer Natalie De’Banco who owns the brand. The outfit also had Swarovski crystal embellishments on it. Beyoncé topped it with a glamorous coat made from ethically sourced ostrich feathers. The outfit was featured at the star’s 42 birthday celebration and at the opening of her Las Vegas show. Jordan’s leotard, while taking a cue from the outfit, tactically altered the placement of the crystal panels. Interestingly, such carefully crafted pieces did not receive much welcome from the fans.

Jordan’s appreciation for Beyonce stands through the criticism

Shortly after the news spread, a Reddit discussion was initiated by @r/Gymnastics, displaying the screenshot of Chiles’ story. And many followers commented, putting forth their opinions. Some of them did not cater to any side stating reasons like, ‘Everything looks so different under the lights. It’s hard to have an opinion until I see it in motion.’ Whereas, many fans disapproved of this potential look in a direct and rather blunt manner.

One fan called the design plain Hideous.’  While another commented that they were ‘not loving them.’ Further expressing their dislike, one of the followers resented it stating,Dear god that is tacky.’ But all these might make one wonder why Jordan resorted to Beyonce. Well, that is not without any reason.

Jordan Chiles’ fandom for Beyonce is well-known and documented. Last year preceding the release of Beyonce’s movie Rennaisance, the American gymnast had zealously taken to her social media, saying that she ‘can’t wait for it.’ Even the possibility of meeting the megastar in person at the Rennaisance Tour in Hoston made Chiles go gaga, unleashing the atypical fangirl within the ace gymnast. Beyonce’s “Pretty Hurts” and “XO” are two of Jordan’s most favorite Beyonce tracks, as she had mentioned. Therefore, the leotards seem just like a diehard fan’s neverending quest to imitate their icon. But donning that has not been easy for Chiles.

According to Chiles, she felt like putting on 850 pounds of jewels when she tried the leotard for the first time. Therefore some alterations had to be made to them to make them more wearable in a gymnastics performance. But when it comes to someone like Beyonce’s fashion repertoire, one is sure to be spoilt for choices. Recalling that, one fan thought that the choice could have been from among her classic masterpieces.

The user remarked, ‘I’ll support my queen through and through…but all I’m saying is that the Loewe bodysuit was there the entire time….’ Notably, among Beyonce’s Renaissance Tour costumes, the custom-made Loewe bodysuits probably received the most attention. They drew attention from LOEWE‘s Jonathan Anderson’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection. LOEWE’s France and Spain ateliers developed the pieces in collaboration with costume designer Shiona Turini. LOEWE’s signature Trompe l’oeil hands motif placed strategically on the outfits was the highlight, indeed. Getting over that, one fan quickly added another dimension to the discussion.

The fan claimed that the sight of this leotard reminded them of ‘Kefka from Final Fantasy 6’ a video-game character that bears a weirdly colorful appearance. Despite all these, Jordan herself is more than excited about the leotards. “I put it on, and I was like…My imagination came to life…At the end of the day, I feel beautiful in it,” Chiles said. “I feel strong, powerful,” Jordan told to Washington Post about her feelings while donning the leotards.
