The annals of history can’t overlook the women artistic gymnasts and their class apart performances. Both at the collegiate and the international level, the women of strength and passion have inscribed their names time and again. The Olympic year doesn’t mean the other gymnastic events will be of any less importance. It is also the NCAA season and a scope for the women to steer their boats forward.

But a girl of power, Kayla Smith, wunderkind extraordinaire, recently cemented her name in Inside Gym’s heart instead for a special reason. The prodigy recently gave fans cause to celebrate and made our chests swell with pride.

Kayla Smith on the rise

West Virginia University, an integral part of the competitive roster, sent their prized collegiate Kayla Smith to compete. As a top Level 10 All-arounder, she walked home with a $1000 scholarship. But what caught Inside Gym’s attention was her love for her alma mater.The campus was awesome and I love the girls…It was going to be my home away from home”. 

While Inside Gymnastics only gave a snippet of her interview, they promised to release the full session soon. In the 2024 season, Smith, as a Level 10, has earned a second 38.0 All-Around score. But the emerging star doesn’t wish to stop at this. Let’s take a look at her future plans.

Kayla Smith groomed to defeat top-tier gymnasts

Hailing from Virginia International Gymnastics School, Smith’s January 26th’s performance was a clear stand out. The rising gymnast wishes to qualify for the USAG DP Nationals. Working on taking her manoeuvre to the next level, she wishes to master a Yurchenko 1 1/2 by next season.

With the Nastia Cup nearing, she wants to see herself as a college gymnastics coach someday, after earning back-to-back 10s in the Championship events. Though not a popular face on the National roster yet, the gymnastics hustle wants to claim a National title in the future. She wants to continue her quest for excellence and wants to enjoy the journey simultaneously.
