Shilese Jones’ path to Olympic glory
Since coming in tenth place at the Tokyo Trials, Shilese Jones has been steadily moving towards her ambition of qualifying for the 2024 Olympics. She qualified for finals in beam, floor and uneven bars during the recent world championships, getting a second runner-up of all-around qualifying score. Achievements of this kind made her the first American woman after Simone Biles, who was in 2013, made it into four individual finals at the Olympic Games and Worlds in 2016.

Jones considered giving up elite gymnastics after the last trials two years earlier, but has been the steadfast second-best gymnast in her last six all-around in the past year and a half period.
