The latest news showcased the 2020 Tokyo Olympian, Jordan Chiles opting out of the 2024 Team USA’s Camp Invite, and nobody knew the exact reason. Pondering over her choice, the audience also was unsure of what the gymnast had planned for her Olympic journey this year. However, some of the fandom did guess it right over her choices for the ‘Classics’, that were scheduled to be held in the upcoming months.

While her fandom was speculating her cause of withdrawal, Jordan Chiles’ mother Gina Chiles came forward to talk about her daughter’s decision that she had made ahead of the Paris Olympics in 2024.

In a post on X, by Gina Chiles wrote, I wanted to say something because I saw everyone asking but was patiently waiting for USAG to update the list. She’s there verifying but not for assignment.” She also clearly stated that ahead of the Olympics, the plan of her daughter was to choose the qualification process through the US Championships.

The 2024 US Championships included two stages, the American Classic (April’24 end) and the US Classic (May 24). It also would lead to athletes qualifying for the Olympic Trials henceforth. Furthermore, talking about the Camp Invite, Jordan Chiles’ mother admitted, “Honestly, that isn’t the plan. US Classic has been the focus but plans change so I guess we will all see if she decides differently.” Interestingly, she also hinted that the US Classic in May is Jordan Chiles’ chosen path.

Experience to ease out the preparation for the Paris Olympics

Amidst the latest declarations made by Jordan Chiles and her mother regarding the road opted for inching closer to the Summer Olympics this season, Jordan Chiles has also stated to Olympics.com, about her preparatory training. She also talked about her shift in mindset from the Tokyo Olympics on her way to the Paris Olympic Games.

Claiming to use her previous Olympic experience this time, she mentioned, “I really pushed myself to a limit where I was just drained at the end.. I think that’s something that I don’t think I would ever do [again], really push myself to that extreme… I will able to take, ‘Okay, I did it in ’21, it should be an easier way for ’24.” Patiently waiting for the right time to set foot on the Olympic preparatory grounds, Jordan Chiles this time has made sure she is both physically and mentally prepared before going to the next cycle of her life.
