Suni Lee is all about trying out new things. Whether she’s trying her hand at vlogging or moving cities to expand her horizons, the Olympic gold medalist is never shy from treading uncharted waters. After another successful Olympic campaign, the Saint Paul, Minnesota native started the next chapter of her life in New York City. Naturally, experiencing the Big Apple’s many offerings was also on the cards. However, things aren’t always going to be familiar.
In the months leading up to the 33rd Games, Lee overcame significant challenges, mostly concerning her health troubles. And yet, nothing could hold back the 21-year-old from lending her skills to help the USA win the team gold in Paris. But it was a steep climb, and Lee expressed her wish to move to NYC and take a break from the sport right after the Olympics concluded. Naturally, she was prepared to face some new scenarios in life in the coming days.
In her recent TikTok upload from December 1, the Auburn Tigers star Suni Lee shared a brief snippet of herself from the stands watching the football match between the New York Jets and the Seattle Seahawks with her younger sister Sheyenne. Captioned, “pov: us at a football game,” the video clip shows the duo hanging out in the stands of the MetLife Stadium as the two NFL powerhouses locked horns. While the Jets were handed their third straight loss today, the two Lee siblings had their own concerns.

The New York football team blew a 14-point lead to lose the match 26-21. But Suni and Sheyenne had a hard time keeping up with the game’s progress. The duo made a hilarious confession while watching the AFC East game. “I’m confused,” Suni said with a sheepish smile on her face, but her sibling had something of her own to respond. “You’re confused? I’m confused, bro!” Sheyenne candidly replies.

But their bafflement wasn’t enough for Lee to revel in her love for fashion. In her Instagram story from the same day, Suni can be seen showing off her own Jets jersey with a beaming smile. The New York squad gifted the Olympian her own custom jersey, with SUNI labeled on the back, making her gleeful expression understandable. But all of these tributes and honors are justified when one remembers the stellar feat it was for Lee to get back on the Olympic stage again.

In 2023, doctors diagnosed Suni Lee with a rare condition that affected both her kidneys. Furthermore, she was told that the disease was incurable, prompting Lee to cut short her NCAA season with the Tigers. But that didn’t mean she was out of steam altogether. Suni made her comeback at the 2023 US Classic and subsequently went on to win bronze on the beam at the 2023 US Championships. Later, she talked about how getting back to the gym was an ordeal and that she had to come to terms with herself first to do so.
“The hardest thing was just waking up and going to the gym, forcing myself, because a part of me was just so embarrassed and ashamed to show my face,” she said about how getting swollen and gaining weight also impacted her self-confidence. But she wasn’t one to sit back and let that dictate her life further. Instead, Lee moved to New York, and rizzed up the New York Fashion Week, drawing the attention of all the cameras present at the coveted event. Now, fans can’t wait to see what she has planned for the future: a career in YouTube vlogging, maybe? What do you lie ahead? Tell us in the comment section below.
