Significant controversy has been stirred by recent remarks made by Detroit Tigers announcers during a game broadcast. LSU sensation Olivia Dunne was the topic of conversation right before her MLB boyfriend Paul Skenes’ game. Many people have questioned the broadcasters’ comments, deeming them wrong.

The incident happened on May 29th, during a Bally Sports Detroit broadcast. When commentator Johnny Kane was staring at his phone, fellow broadcaster Trevor Thompson questioned, “What’s going on there man? Are you looking up Livvy Dunne?” This sparked a conversation that has angered the public and the media. The X handle of “Jomboy Media” tweeted, “Tigers broadcast bringing you the hard-hitting analysis,” along with a video clip of the heated part. The video went viral right away, and people started criticizing it.

Kane seemed distracted, which prompted Thompson to bring up Dunne in his discussion. Carlos Pena, an analyst for Bally Sports Detroit, stated, “She just gained one more follower.” Thompson proceeded, “You’re gonna follow her on all the socials, Johnny?” In response, Kane asked whether Thompson would speak with Dunne from the stands. Thompson replied, “If I see her I’m going to try to track her down. See if she’ll come on to Bally Sports with us. Why not right?”

Many people believe that this interaction was inappropriate, considering Olivia Dunne’s popular reputation as a social media influencer and gymnast. The discussion came across as objectifying and had nothing to do with the game. Social media users immediately expressed their disgust in response to this.

Olivia Dunne has always stood by Skenes navigating the difficulties of fame

Viewers’ responses to Jomboy Media’s tweet regarding Olivia Dunne were heated and powerful. An individual noted the remarks from the broadcasting conversation and questioned, “She left Baby Gronk for that guy??” An admirer responded, “Gross. 🤮,” expressing severe anger for the comments made by commentators after Dunne. Another user prompted Donovan Lewis saying, “Shame him @GreatDonovan.” Apart from being proof of the support Olivia receives from the gymnastics community, it also reveals the hardships she has to face for her popularity.

Previously, Olivia Dunne responded to the harsh remarks she received in July 2023 at Louisiana State University gymnastics events after groups of boys began creating security problems. Given her big social media following of over 10 million, Dunne told PEOPLE in November that LSU has played a crucial role in assuring her safety at meetings. The LSU Tigers women noted, “After the incident in Utah last year, LSU now has a security guard who travels with the gymnastics team.”

A user shared the video again and commented, “I hope no one really cares about this and it’s just satire,” with the hope that the chaos is not as bad as it looks. But, some time back, Olivia did not take the unwarranted comments lightly. On that occasion, she was criticized for posting her bold pictures and pictures in leotards. Olivia addressed that head-on. She clearly stated that how a man looks at a girl is not her responsibility. As one more episode of a not-so-acceptable incident unfolded, one user took a jab at the commentators in a rather satirical manner.

“That was extremely important information,” wrote a fan, disgusted under the veil of mockery. But despite all these Olivia chose to be on Paul’s side to watch Paul Skenes’ first outing with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, May 11. “I have so many amazing memories with him, but I know how hard he’s worked for this moment…I just know what a hard worker he is. This is probably one of my favorite moments I’ve ever seen. Seriously, there is nothing that can top this. I’m just so proud,” Livvy had gushed on that occasion. This very support of hers for Skenes indeed takes precedence over and above all awkward incidents.
