The Tokyo Olympics 2020 came with many surprises, but perhaps the most astonishing one was what transpired in gymnastics. Everyone was expecting Simone Biles to bag the limelight. However, in a brave yet startling move, the gymnastics icon withdrew from the Games citing mental health issues. As Biles exited, the iconic Sunisa Lee entered.

No one else could have been a better choice to replace Biles. The performance that Lee gave at the Tokyo Olympics was beyond reproach and so perfect, it earned her a gold medal. Now, years after that notable win, Lee has embarked on a new adventure.

After Biles’ exit from the Olympics, the steely-eyed Lee took over the reins. It was the then 18-year-old Minnesotan’s turn to shine, and she grabbed it with both hands. Lee was able to achieve a 14.600 on vault, a 15.300 on uneven bars, a 13.833 on beam, and a 13.700 on the floor. She stood at an amazing total of 57.433 overall and won her first-ever gold medal, along with Team USA’s consecutive fifth one, in the event. The win catapulted Sunisa Lee to well-deserved fame and recognition. After her inspiring stint at the Olympics, Lee has embarked on a new journey, possibly an equally exciting one.

The Olympic gymnast was recently in the City of Light, trying her hand at cooking Michelin-star-worthy scrumptious dishes. Top Chef season 20 aired a brand new episode on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 9 pm ET on Bravo. The remaining contestant faced off against each other in a bid to impress the judges and take the title home for themselves. the contestants were paired up with Olympians and Para-Olympians, and Sunisa Lee was also a part of the episode. She shared a video of herself cooking on the show on Instagram, with the caption, “I’m going for the gold in tonight’s #TopChef World All-Stars. The Hmong-American artistic gymnast was paired with the fan favorite, Gabriel Rodriguez, a Spanish chef of Mexican descent who has already won season 2 of Top Chef Mexico. Befittingly, Sunisa Lee is already in Paris for the show, a city she is soon to grace again for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The gymnast has begun her preparations for the upcoming event and regularly shares updates about the same. Lee has started tweaking her routine to include new moves and combinations, and the 20-year-old artistic gymnast is definitely going to surprise us all with her unbelievable routine at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
