Gabby Douglas is back! After her fans had a tough time going through a Winter Cup devoid of Douglas, good news has finally arrived. The 28-year-old, who withdrew from the recently concluded Winter Cup, is back sweating it out at the National Training Camp. Considered one of the trailblazers in female gymnastics, Gabby Douglas is fixated on clinching her fourth Olympic gold. Of course, Douglas has already mesmerized her fans in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, but she wants more.
Much to her plan, Douglas was training here for the Winter Cup until tragedy struck. Merely a couple of days before the tournament, Douglas delivered the news about her COVID diagnosis. While her return to top-tier gymnastics was delayed, Douglas is looking all set for Paris 2024.

It has been a long time since Gabby Douglas has returned to action. Eight years to be precise! However, the wait is finally coming to an end as Douglas will be joining the National Training Camp in the coming month. In a recent Instagram post by Inside Gymnastics Magazine, it was revealed that the 28-year-old will be featuring in the camp in a bid to qualify for the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024.

The Instagram post further states that apart from Douglas, several non-national athletes have also submitted applications to be a part of this camp. However, these applications will be reviewed by a group of high-performance teams from USAG before giving the final nod.
This will be the fourth instance when Douglas will be attending the National Training Camp. Her first camp was back in 2012, ahead of the London Olympics. After a brief period of discontinuity, she came back to the camp in 2016. Ahead of the Winter Cup, Douglas returned to the camp in November 2023, which she had to leave because of her illness. However, soon after the Rio Olympics, Douglas distanced herself from gymnastics. However, soon after the Rio Olympics, Douglas distanced herself from gymnastics. Although she did not formally announce her retirement, Douglas did not participate in the Tokyo Olympics.

One of Douglas’ major achievements was when she made it to the covers of TIMES and Sports Illustrated, and even on boxes of cereals.

That was not all. Douglas also was crowned the champion of ‘The Masked Dancer’ for a season. In addition to this, the Olympic gold medalist was also featured in multiple Disney animated programs, and an episode of ‘Undercover Boss.’ Now after a gap of eight years, Douglas is at the doorstep of making history. It will be interesting to see how the fairytale ends for Douglas.
